Principal's Message
Greetings KP Community,
As we move further into the spring season, there is a great deal happening across KPRHS. From classroom learning to extracurricular activities and events, this is one of the busiest and most energized times of the year. We encourage you to take a few moments to review the many updates and highlights included throughout this newsletter.
Today marks the end of Term 3, making it an important time for students to connect with their teachers, reflect on their progress, and finish the term on a strong note—especially if they are experiencing any challenges. As we look ahead to Term 4, we encourage all students to stay focused and continue working toward a strong finish to the year.
We also want to thank our students and families for their continued commitment to attendance. We have seen meaningful improvement this year, and that collective effort makes a significant impact. While spring can be a challenging time to maintain consistent attendance, being present each day is essential to mastering skills, building relationships, and progressing toward our Vision of a Graduate.

KPRHS School Focus on Attendance
Attendance Update - Tier 1 Support
Consistent with the middle school and as part of our ongoing effort to improve attendance at KPRHS, we are implementing a new Tier 1 (this means for all students) attendance strategy this year. Beginning for the end of term 3, and at the midpoint of each term moving forward, families will receive an attendance update that includes their student’s current number of absences, a reminder of attendance benchmarks, and encouragement to check academic progress in Infinite Campus.
The goal of this communication is to keep families informed about attendance, reinforce the importance of daily attendance, and encourage conversations at home about both attendance and academic progress. Research shows that increasing awareness of attendance patterns can help improve attendance for many students.
This message is intended as a supportive reminder for all families, not just those with attendance concerns. Our intention is for families to receive an update at the midpoint of all four terms moving forward. A separate email will be sent on Monday with an example of the attendance letter and individual attendance letters will be sent to families by the end of the week. As always, we appreciate the partnership with all families to ensure KPRHS is a learning environment where all students thrive.
If you have ideas for additional strategies that could help support student attendance, please feel free to share them with us!

Miles For Mara
Dear KP Community,
The KP SADD chapter will host Miles for Maura, a 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 3rd, in memory of my sister, Maura. This fundraiser supports scholarships for seniors in Maura’s honor while raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. As a King Philip graduate, these efforts help keep her memory and legacy alive.
If you're interested in donating but unable to attend, you’re welcome to drop off checks payable to King Philip Regional High School in my mailbox or at my office.
We are forever grateful for all of the KP community support throughout the years. Thank you all so much for your continued commitment and participation.
We hope to see you on Sunday, May 3!

Greenheart Exchange Program
Do you want to learn a new language or experience a different culture? Have you thought about hosting a student from another country? Greenheart Exchange Program has 524 kids looking for a host family starting in the fall. Kids are from Norway, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Poland, France, Bolivia, Spain, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Brazil, to name a few.
For example there is a sweet 17 year old girl from Italy who LOVES to cook, enjoys music in all forms (especially concerts), has a dog, speaks English, Spanish and German and wants to experience American Halloween and Thanksgiving. She is only looking for a first semester family.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have. A student can share a room with your child of the same sex, no more or less than 3 years age difference. No kids at home? That is ok too! Is your family musically inclined? Sports fanatics? Every family is unique...let me match you up with a student! Some kids specifically ask for Massachusetts too!

Free and Reduced Cost Meals Application
Please note that even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families in need to still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2025-2026 school year. This allows districts to establish eligibility for other federal benefits and school programs. Families who have been eligible for Free and Reduced Meals in the past must apply again for 2025-2026. Please know that the application is confidential with only the Director of Food Services and administrators having access. All students receive the same meals.

Updates from Nurse’s Office
News from the Nurses Office:
Parents/guardians - Please be aware that if your child feels ill while at school - please encourage them to visit the nurse's office for evaluation. If we deem it medically necessary, you will be contacted and we will excuse the dismissal. If a student dismisses themselves without being seen by the nurses, their dismissal cannot be excused ( without a doctor's note).
Please keep your students home if they are ill. This includes: fever (greater than 100 degrees and your child may return to school only after their temperature has been consistently below 100 degrees, by mouth, for a minimum of 24 hours), vomiting (even once) and diarrhea.
WE do not carry OR provide cold/cough medicine. We do not carry OR provide Claritin or Allegra
( allergy medicine). The Benadryl we have in the office is for anaphylactic events .
Dismissal Reminders
Dismissals must be done in person at the Main Office or by Email
If you need to dismiss your student during the school day you must either come into the office and sign them out in person or you can email hsattendance@kingphilip.org. Dismissals are not done over the phone. If at all possible, please email at the beginning of the school day. Only excused absences allow students to make up missed work. The KPRHS Student Handbook lists what constitutes an excused absence.
Please note: Juniors do not have 'senior' privileges and are not allowed to leave during the school day. The consequence for any student leaving school without permission is a Saturday Detention for the first offense.
also "Students misusing their parking privileges by leaving school grounds before the end of the school day may be subject to having their parking privileges revoked."
