A Note from Mrs. Phillips

Dear Hornet Families/Friends,

As we move into spring, it’s important to stay weather-aware. Warmer temperatures bring the possibility of severe weather, so we will be conducting a tornado drill this month to ensure that students and staff are prepared. Additionally, please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Layers are a great option to adjust to the changing temperatures throughout the day.

ILEARN testing is approaching, and we want our students in grades 3-6 to feel confident and prepared. This assessment helps measure student progress and guides instruction for the next school year. Parents can find valuable resources, including practice questions and testing tips, at https://indiana.portal.cambiumast.com/families.html. Ensuring your child gets plenty of rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives on time each day will support their success. Testing begins the week of April 14th.

I couldn't be prouder of our 3rd-grade team and their accomplishments on IREAD 3. I gave them a challenge of reaching a certain % (scores are still embargoed), and IF they met that goal, we would go skating! I am happy to say we are attending Dublin Skating Rink as they ROCKED the TEST! If your child did not pass, they have already been invited for remediation beginning this week! Our students that attend 90% of sessions will be able to retake the test in May, before summer school. All other students who do not attend remediation or do not pass after remediation will attend summer school. If transportation is a challenge, please message me. I will make arrangements for your 3rd grader to attend remediation.

As we plan for the 2025-2026 school year, we ask families to complete the Intent to Return Portal in Powerschool. This portal will be new this year and will replace the current paper form. More information is forthcoming from FCSC. The Intent to Return helps us prepare class rosters and staffing needs. If you have a child entering kindergarten, please join us for Kindergarten Round-Up on April 9 and 10 from 3:00-6:00 PM. Students must be 5 by August 1, and you must bring your child's birth certificate, shot records, and proof of residency. If your child attended LSP, you only need to bring your proof of residency.

Let's finish the next two months strong! We encourage all students to demonstrate positive behavior by following our RICHER principles, with a special focus this month on Responsibility. Good attendance is crucial—please call the office if your child is sick. Additionally, if there are any transportation changes, notify the office before 2:00 PM to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you for your continued support in making Fayette Central a place where students thrive. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to us. We believe that strong communication and transparency are essential in creating a positive school environment. Together, we can ensure the best possible experience for our students and families.
