Cougar Chronicle
January Weekly Update ~ January 30, 2026
A note from Mr. Lee
With all the recent snow days and interruptions to our traditional five-day school week, it is more important than ever for students to build endurance and stay on top of grades and assignment deadlines.
While a snow day can be a welcome break, extended disruptions to routine often make it harder for students to maintain focus and momentum. We sometimes see an increase in missing assignments or classroom behaviors simply because students lose track of timelines or struggle to re-establish school routines.
Families can help by encouraging consistent bedtimes, checking grades regularly, and reminding students to complete assignments even on days off. Simple habits like reviewing planners, setting aside time for homework, and talking about upcoming deadlines go a long way in helping students stay organized and accountable.
At Carter, we are reinforcing expectations, supporting students as they transition back into learning routines, and encouraging perseverance. Just like building physical stamina, academic endurance takes practice and consistency.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our Cougars focused, engaged, and moving forward despite winter challenges.
Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda
