We Have Switched To SchoolPay!

As of Monday, February 3, all online payments made in West Linn-Wilsonville schools are now made through SchoolPay with the exception of high school fees, which will continue to be paid through the Web Store. Online payments made through SchoolPay include Nutrition Services payments, middle school athletic fees, primary enrichment classes, and all other school fees that are paid online.

To learn more about SchoolPay, and to create your account to begin making payments, please visit the SchoolPay website, or visit the district website for more information. Once you have created your account, you will need your student’s student ID number to register. SchoolPay allows families to pay for any and all school fees or payments in one place. SchoolPay also allows families to view past and relevant payment history.

Lockout vs. Lockdown video information.

In this week's Safety Spotlight we take a look at the difference between a LockOUT and a LockDOWN. A Lockdown secures students, staff, and volunteers within classrooms while leaving entrances open for emergency personnel and law enforcement to clear the building. A Lockout secures and locks the building's entryways while safely sheltering all students, staff, and visitors inside the school building. This drill allows the school day to continue within the building. Please watch this video to learn more about the two protocols.

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then the artwork created by West Linn-Wilsonville students this year is thousands of words and then some. The Oregon High School Scholastic Art Awards were announced on Friday, Jan. 24, highlighted by more than 150 awards and recognitions for West Linn-Wilsonville students.

At Wilsonville High School, 18 students earned Gold Key Awards, while 34 earned Silver Key Awards and 41 students received Honorable Mentions. At West Linn High School, six students earned Gold Key Awards, five students received Silver Key Awards, and seven students earned Honorable Mention.

Students were recognized with awards for paintings, drawing and illustrations, photography, digital art, mixed media, and sculpture among other mediums. In total, West Linn-Wilsonville students received 178 Scholastic Art Awards in 2020.

The Scholastic Art Awards are separated into categories and juried by three unique jurors. Professionals and art professors make up the group of jurors, judging the category or medium they specialize in through a blind adjudication process. Of the more than 7,000 individual works that were submitted in Oregon this year, only 7 percent were awarded Gold Keys, while 10 percent receive Silver Keys and 10 percent receive Honorable Mentions.

Gold Key winners advance to the national competition in New York, where past West Linn-Wilsonville students have excelled. READ THE FULL LIST OF STUDENT AWARD WINNERS.

Professional Growth Wednesday This Week — February 5

The next Professional Growth Wednesday is Feb. 5 for all West Linn-Wilsonville schools. About once or twice a month, students are released from school two hours early for the District's Professional Growth Wednesdays. Those two hours are used as time for teacher learning, giving staff an opportunity to collaborate and engage in professional development.

That work leads to better teachers and, in turn, better education for students. Mark your calendars for the following Professional Growth Wednesdays this school year. Please note that some Professional Growth Wednesdays affect primary schools only, so if you have students in middle or high school, they may experience a regular school day. Those instances are marked as PRIMARY LEVEL ONLY Professional Growth Wednesdays.
