SLEDMERE CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

WEEK ENDING 10TH SEPTEMBER 2021

SLEDMERE CEPRIMARY SCHOOLWEEK ENDING 10TH SEPTEMBER 2021

WELCOME AND THANK YOU

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to write to you following our first week back.

It has been lovely to spend time in both schools seeing our children back with their friends mixing freely. The warm weather always helps and everyone has taken advantage of the opportunity to spend lots of time outside.

It never fails to impress me how quickly our pupils settle back into school life and the stability of routines and learning.

Already, the variety and excitement in each class is what makes our children and Federation so special.

I've seen children writing about classification in Science , reading gripping books, recalling Maths skills, perfecting throwing skills in PE and improving recall of French phrases.

On behalf of all of the staff thank you for helping your child to be so well prepared for their return. As ever our priority is keeping everyone happy and safe. If you missed this information it can be found on our website.

We are all excited for the weeks ahead and I wish you all a peaceful weekend.

Mr Richardson

WELCOME NEW STAFF

You may have seen some new faces in school or heard your children mentioning that we have some new staff in school. We are sure you will join us in welcoming Martin Philo as our new cleaner/ caretaker and Céline Ruzé, who is teaching French with Class 3 every Thursday afternoon. We are also going to welcome Hannah Mowforth, from Hull FC, who is going to work closely with Mrs Cousins and will coach Class 1 every Friday. Mrs Headley, our new School Business Manager, is already in post and looks forward to meeting and talking with you.

PARENTPAY

I shared some information with you all about ParentPay over the summer break. Many thanks to those of you who have already activated your account.

Thank you also for your patience with the new system. I appreciate that changing systems can create a few issues, but I am sure you understand that most of these involve technical aspects which we are resolving rapidly and are beyond our control.

For those who may not have had chance to read the information please follow this link. As ever, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the Office.

A few key aspects:

  • All hot dinners should be booked via ParentPay please. (You will pay for those meals you book. Any pupils eligible for free meals or Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils will have no cost, but these must be booked for kitchen records.)
  • All After-school club places must be booked via ParentPay please.
  • Due to the nature of the system bookings for Breakfast Club must be via Office, but charges will still appear on ParentPay.

Our intention is that payment items (including outstanding balances) are entered onto ParentPay for parents/ carers to settle. This enables you to have full control over payments; to be clear about what you owe and you won't have to wait for invoices.

Mr Richardson and Mrs Headley

ATTENDANCE

All children at expected to be in school full time (unless otherwise agreed). If your child is absent for any reason, then please inform Mrs Massey in the Office. If your child is absent because they are awaiting a PCR test then please inform us as soon as possible. All absence information can be emailed to sledmere@eastriding.gov.uk

SCHOOL EVENTS

We will not be inviting parents to Celebration Assemblies this half term, but we will keep you informed about the children who receive certificates. If your child does the new Headteacher’s Award their certificates will be sent home with them that day so they can share this celebration with you. We will review this approach and also keep you informed as to plans for after half term and Christmas.

Throughout the school year we hold a number of curriculum information evenings to allow parents/carers to learn a little more about their child’s learning and to meet staff members. We have planned these for early evening and would like to request that only one parent attends. We will be in touch as these events are arranged.
