Welcome to our July newsletter! The sun is shining, the trails are calling, and we're back from our six week summer adventure in the UK! We took some time to recharge, but now we're ready to dive back into all things Viz Whizz with renewed energy and excitement.

Dogs needing homes hasn't slowed down and we are seeing more and more Vizslas coming into our rescue program. We have Ranger in Texas with VRT, still in need of a special home with experienced owner and I'm happy to report little Chili from Michigan, now has a great new home. More and more studies are telling us that storing dog food in plastic containers is not always best;

• Many plastics contain chemicals like BPA and phthalates that can leak into food, especially when it comes into contact with fat or moisture. These chemicals are known endocrine disruptors that can cause severe health problems in dogs.
  
• Plastic containers can harbor bacteria and other microorganisms, which can contaminate the food and make your dog sick.
  

For these reasons, we're recommending that it's best to use dog food containers made of safer materials like stainless steel or ceramic or if you are going to continue using the plastic containers, to make sure you keep the kibble in the bag you purchased it in. A small change, can make a big difference to your dogs' longterm health.

If not, they may be missing out! Bluey, the Emmy Award-winning animated television series about a 6-year-old Blue Heeler dog, has become a global phenomenon since its release in 2018. While its colorful animation and engaging storylines have captivated human audiences, a surprising trend has emerged: dogs seem to love watching Bluey too. But what makes this show so appealing to our furry friends? Is it the relatable canine characters, the exciting adventures, or something more instinctual? The program's focus on a family of Blue Heelers, sparks canines' interest due to the depiction of fellow dogs on screen. The episodes' short, snappy storylines mirror the short attention span of many dogs, keeping them engaged. Crucially, "Bluey" is filled with the sounds of running, playing, and other noises common in a dog's world, piquing their natural instinct to respond to such audio cues and most importantly they use colors dogs can see!

Our dog, Miss Ellis is 11 years old and suffers from anxiety during storms. We were amazed at how well it worked for her, keeping her calmer and more settled. All our Pack Leaders volunteer their time to host our fun off-leash meet ups. Please keep dogs leashed until the Pack Leaders tell you its safe to release the dogs. For the safety of our pack our Pack Leaders have guidelines to follow and we ask that you listen and respect them.

Owners are all legally liable and responsible for their own dogs at our off-leash meetups.

Viz Whizz Dogs works hard to promote responsible breeders and has an extensive list of great breeders across the USA. If you would like more information, please reach out and we can share that with you. We have wonderful relationships with many of the breeders and know their dogs from our meet ups we host on the trails. If you're looking to be owned by a vizsla or fast dog, we encourage you to join a local meet up and come talk to members and see the dogs in action.
