Attendance
Hello CCSLHS Families
Changes to our Attendance Policy
Student attendance is crucial to academic success, and we greatly appreciate your efforts in ensuring that students are present during school hours. To support their education, we kindly ask that family vacations be scheduled outside of school days whenever possible.
Our goal is to maintain a 95% daily attendance rate for the year.
EVERYONE NEEDS THEIR CHROMEBOOK TOMORROW
We will be checking Chromebook, chargers, and yondr bags tomorrow. You need to have all these with you.
Bounce Back Day: Rebuilding Our Community and Expectations
On Jan 5th, as we return from winter break, we’re taking a moment to strengthen the foundation we built at the start of the year—structure, relationships, and positivity. Bounce Back Day is about revisiting what makes our school community thrive and introducing a few new expectations to keep everyone safe and focused.
What’s New?
- Locked Doors After the Bell: Students late to class must check in at the Main Office for a pass. Less than 7 minutes late = next-day detention; more than 7 minutes = Saturday detention.
- Hallway Limits: Only one student out of class at a time.
- Counselor, EL, and Special Education Visits: Students need a note and should schedule appointments via email the day before.
Our Commitment to Positivity:
Staff will continue to call out inappropriate language AND celebrate positive actions. Students who go above and beyond may earn special recognition like breakfast or lunch and time to reflect with other on what they positively bring to CCSL.
Our Core Message:
We are a community of Wolves. We look out for each other, hold each other accountable, and celebrate the good. Let’s start the year off strong together!
Tardiness
Why Being On Time Matters – New Procedures After the Break
Students, being on time to class is more than just a rule—it’s a habit that sets you up for success. Every minute counts, and arriving late means missing valuable instruction, disrupting your classmates, and falling behind. Starting right after the Break, we will be implementing a new process to ensure everyone is ready to learn when the bell rings.
Here’s What You Need to Know:
- Doors Close at the Bell: Once the bell rings, classroom doors will be shut. Teachers will not allow you in without a pass.
- Late? Head Straight to the Main Office: If you arrive after the bell, go directly to the main office to get a pass. Do not wander or stop elsewhere—get your pass and return to class immediately.
- Consequences for Being Late:
- Within 7 Minutes: If you’re not in class within the first 5 minutes, you will receive an afterschool detention to make up the lost time with the teacher
- More Than 7 Minutes Late: If you arrive more than 7 minutes late, you will be assigned Saturday School.
- No Exceptions: Teachers cannot let you in without a pass once the door is closed.
Bottom Line:
Do not be late. Plan ahead, move quickly between classes, and make punctuality a priority. If you are late, go straight to the office, get your pass, and return to class immediately. Let’s work together to make every minute count!
