From the Senior Leadership Team – Term 3, Week 6

Kia ora Whanau

Here we are at the end of week 6! We're well on the way to spring and warmer weather for the rest of the year. Please take a moment to review a few key reminders and upcoming events for next week:

Road Safety and Neighborhood Respect

We ask all parents and caregivers to speak with their children about road safety, particularly regarding bike and scooter use to and from school. Helmets must be worn correctly, and road rules must be followed at all times. Additionally, we have received feedback regarding student behavior around private property and near Smales Farm. Please remind your child to show respect for our neighbors, local businesses, and community spaces by staying on public footpaths and conducting themselves with pride when wearing the school uniform.

Winter Illness and Flu Outbreak

We are currently experiencing a rise in flu cases across the school. To help us stop the spread and protect vulnerable members of our school community, please keep your child at home if they are showing any signs of being unwell. Learners should be fever-free and feeling well for at least 24 hours before returning to school. Thank you for helping us keep our classrooms healthy.

Group Photos with Photolife — Tuesday 1st September

Next week, Photolife will be on-site to take photos for our Cultural, Performance, Service, and Leadership groups.

  • Date: Tuesday 1st September

  • Dress Code: Full, correct school uniform is strictly required for all students participating in these photos. Please ensure your child comes to school looking sharp and ready.

Year 7 Community Project Days

Our Year 7 students will be stepping into action next week for their Community Project Days! This is a wonderful opportunity for our younger learners to engage with service, collaboration, and community impact. Keep an eye out further down in this newsletter for detailed information regarding schedules and expectations for these days.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we head into these final busy weeks of the term.

Ngā mihi,

The Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

Invitation to Year 7 Families & Whānau

Kia ora koutou,

We warmly invite Year 7 families and whānau to join us for our Year 7 HWOO (How We Organise Ourselves) Community Project.

Over the past several weeks, our learners have been investigating essential services and organisations within our community. They have researched, collaborated, made connections, developed their understanding, and created a proposal for advocacy action around an issue that matters to them.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our learners to share their learning and celebrate the journey they have undertaken as young community changemakers.

Presentation Times:

Wednesday 2 September | 11:15 am – 12:30 pm
Kōwhai & Rimu

Thursday 3 September | 11:15 am – 12:30 pm
Tōtara & Rata

Friday 4 September | 11:15 am – 12:30 pm
Kauri & Mānuka

Venues:

Kōwhai : Rooms 3 & 4; Rimu: Rooms 9 & 10

Tōtara: Rooms 23 & 24; Rata: Rooms 5 & 7

Kauri: Rooms 17 & 19; Mānuka: Rooms 13 & 14

Families and whānau are welcome to come along during the allocated time to view your child's group's presentation, displays and advocacy proposal, and to hear learners share their learning and thinking.

There will be some parking available on our school Basketball Courts.

We hope you can join us to celebrate the learning, collaboration and action of our Year 7 learners.
