Sydney McCollister- Prevention Clinician

Hello, Lions! My name is Sydney McCollister, and I am the new prevention clinician at Jefferson Elementary School. As a prevention clinician, I work with students on building skillsets to help them improve their emotion regulation, academic success, and relationships with peers and adults. I have the opportunity to help students build these skills through one-on-one sessions, group sessions, and classroom lessons. A little bit about myself: I graduated with my Master’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University and have obtained my licensure within social work. Before coming to Jefferson, I previously was in a therapist role and worked with individuals within early childhood through older adulthood. I have found that I thoroughly enjoy working with children and admire their resiliency, creativity, and insight on the world around us. Outside of being at Jefferson, I love to do arts & crafts, read sci-fi books, cuddle my cute dog named Olive, and take daily walks around my neighborhood. I am so happy to be at Jefferson and look forward to getting to know everyone in the community!

State Testing Dates

The state-required testing in grades 3-5 will take place from the end of April through the beginning of May. You will hear these tests referred to as "OST" which stands for Ohio State Tests. We ask that you make every attempt to have your child at school on these testing dates and avoid doctor appointments or unnecessary absences.

Make plans now to join us at the March 12 PTO meeting to learn about Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports(PBIS). Assistant Principal Chris Williams and Principal Scott Schmidt will be sharing about PBIS and how it is implemented at Jefferson Elementary.
