Students in Mrs. Ellis’s 6th grade science class have been exploring the human body systems. Their curiosity has grown as they learn how each system functions and how all the parts work together. Last Thursday, students participated in a hands-on activity focused on the circulatory system, which moves blood throughout the body and relies on its hardest-working organ—the heart. Students measured their heart rates by counting beats for 15 seconds and multiplying by four to determine their beats per minute. Many students felt their heartbeat for the first time and were thrilled to learn how to check their own pulse!

CKH Word of the Month ~ Responsibility CKH Word of the Month ~ Responsibility

As we head into the final month of the year, we are focusing on a value that helps students grow both in and out of the classroom—responsibility. Responsibility means owning our actions, following through on commitments, and choosing to do what is right, even when it’s not easy. This month, we will encourage students to practice responsibility in small, everyday moments—bringing needed materials to class, caring for their personal space, supporting their peers, and making thoughtful choices.

We look forward to partnering with our students and families as we help build strong character and encourage responsible choices throughout the month of December.

Tryout Dates:

DECEMBER 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (AFTER SCHOOL)

You can get a physical from the school Jacket Wellness Clinic or from your preferred doctor, but one is required in order to try out. -Tryouts will run from 3:45-5:15 each day.

- Sheridan kids must be picked up at 5:30 at the football field.

- Bring extra water

- Wear tennis shoes and running clothes

- Wrestling and basketball athletes will try out at a later date once their season is over.

Library Reminder: Return Books Before Christmas Break

As we prepare for Christmas break, we kindly ask students to return any library books they have finished reading. This helps us keep our shelves stocked and ready for everyone to enjoy in the new year.

If your student is still in the middle of a book, no worries—they are welcome to keep it over the break and continue reading! We simply ask that all completed books be returned by the break.

Thank you for supporting our library and encouraging great reading habits!
