Excellence in the IB Program
Conversation with Sepesim Francis-Mongkeya & Marshallese TV
Breaking Barriers. Building Excellence.
We recently had the incredible opportunity to host Sepesim Francis-Mongkeya for an exclusive feature on Marshallese TV. This wasn't just a school update; it was a deep dive into what it means to be a Marshallese student navigating the most rigorous academic path at Springdale High School.
The Mission: To show our community that the International Baccalaureate (IB) program isn't just a curriculum—it’s a platform for our future leaders to find their voices on a global stage.
For those unfamiliar, the IB program at SHS is a world-renowned pre-university course of study. Completing three years (from prep courses to the full diploma) is a marathon of grit.
It requires:
The Extended Essay: A 4,000-word independent research paper.
Theory of Knowledge: A class that challenges students to ask, "How do we know what we know?"
Creativity, Activity, Service: 150+ hours dedicated to community impact.
Global Exams: Rigorous testing that earns students college credit worldwide.
