Hello Cougars!

On Monday, August 31st, we welcome our Cougars to start the 2026-2027 school year!

Our new staff started last Wednesday (Ms. Bowerman & Ms. Jackson) and the rest of our amazing staff return on Tuesday!

This Thursday (8/27/26) we encourage you to come in from 1pm-2pm or 4pm-6pm to pick up a copy of your schedule and a school map. You'll be able to "walk your schedule" on self-guided tours. If you are new to CHMS this year, we invite you to a New Student Orientation at 5:30pm in our media center.

Be Kind on Purpose,

Mrs. Sands & Mr. Wharton

August 27th August 27th

Student/Families Self Guided Tour

Student/Families Self Guided Tour - students and their families in grades 6, 7 and 8 are invited in to receive their schedule and a map to take a walk through the building to find their classes.

Flexible times during the day include 1:00pm - 2:00pm or later from 4:00pm - 6:00pm

New Student Orientation

All new students are invited to attend an orientation, hosted by Mrs. Sands and Mr. Wharton. Join us at 5:30pm in the auditorium.

Schedules Schedules

Schedules are available to view in PowerSchool and were also emailed to you last week.

Student schedules are a result of months of preparation and planning. Class changes will not be made, with the exception of the following priorities:

  • First Priority - Students missing a class from their schedule. Please email adill@ccps.org ASAP.

  • Second Priority - Students who were placed in the incorrect level of a course (for example, enrolled in Honors ELA but should be in regular ELA).

  • Third Priority - Students who would like to add/drop a full year course (Spanish, Orchestra, Band, Chorus).

Requests will only be considered for valid educational reasons. Wanting to change a schedule to be with friends will not be considered a priority. Schedule changes must be approved by Mrs. Sands - krsands@ccps.org.

Budget Priorities & Involvement Survey 2026-2027 Budget Priorities & Involvement Survey 2026-2027

We are asking all staff, students and parents to complete this budget survey for the fall of 2026 as we make decisions to best support student learning and success. Expect additional budget survey(s) to be distributed later in the year. This survey will include information on how you would like to see our Title IV funds be used. Title IV is Newly authorized under subpart 1 of Title IV-A of ESSA, the Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) program grant’s purpose is to help meet the goal of ensuring equitable access to educational opportunities for all students. Under ESSA, the Title IV-A grants help meet this goal by increasing the capacity of SEAs, LEAs, schools, and local communities to fund activities that support three content areas: Well-Rounded Education, Safe and Healthy Students, and Effective Use of Technology. Please complete this survey by September 18, 2026.
