READ ACROSS AMERICA READ ACROSS AMERICA

We are excited for Read Across America next Thursday, March 2nd!

A NOTE FROM MRS. B A NOTE FROM MRS. B

Howdy Bronco Family! To quote one of my favorite childhood authors, Dr. Seuss… “The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” I truly believe that reading opens the world to everyone. You can experience fantasy and adventure. You can learn about history and our world. You can be entertained. Reading is also an extremely vital piece of growing our kiddos here in school and leading them to successes. And, one doesn’t stop reading just because they are no longer in school. So, in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd, I encourage you and your kiddos to gather some books and read them together. Get lost in the pages and let your minds wander!

Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.

Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.

It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Mrs. B

¡Hola Familia Bronco! Sra. B

3RD GRADE

Hello 3rd grade families,

This week we started reviewing what we learned at the beginning of the year. We started our review with the genre Folktales. We reviewed two different types of Folktales, legends and fairy tales. We compared and contrasted the two types of folktales using a graphic organizer and examples of each. After reading The Story of Johnny Appleseed and The Three Little Pigs, we analyzed the different elements and found similarities and differences. We ended the week off by reading one of my favorite Interactive Read Aloud books Baby Rattlesnake retold by Lynn Moroney. We analyzed the theme (message) and elements that the author includes within the text.

In phonics this week, we learned what Wild Colt words are; words that contain the cowles o or i followed by two consonants. Students are showing great progress with their spelling and reading by using decoding strategies. Remember spelling tests are every Thursday.

For social studies this week, we finished up our unit over economics.

Reminders:

  • Please have your child at school every day and on time.

  • If your child will not be at school, please message on class DoJo and call the office

  • Please make sure your child is completing daily homework and reading for at least 20 minutes every night.

Thank you for all you do,

Temple Reinhart

4TH GRADE

4th & 5th Grade MATH

-In 4th Grade, we are still working on lines, rays and angles and moving on to symmetry. There are still a few math chapters I would like to go over before we start to review for the STAAR.

-In 5th grade, we just started working on coordinate planes, and ordered pairs. We will start working on different kinds of graphs next week. We learn to create them and read them. This will be our last math chapter before we start to review for the STAAR.

-Please have your student practice multiplication math facts every night for 5 to 10 minutes. It will make a world of a difference.

-Thank you for your support. Mrs. Gamez

Aprendemos a crearlos y leerlos.

We have begun our review of TEKS, Reading Strategies, and Genres that we have covered this year. We are preparing for the STAAR and making sure we are ready for grade levels to come.

Reminders...

  1. Spelling List 23 is being sent home today. Many students are not making good grades on their tests, these should be easy A's.
  2. Students must be reading at minimum 20 minutes each night. This is imperative for their academic success and leads to AR tests which allows them to shop at the AR store :)
  3. Students need to be getting an adequate amount of sleep at night. Many students are falling asleep in class which is not fair to me, them, or their classmates.
  4. Please message me or call the office if your child will be absent.
  5. Spring break is March 13-17th.
  6. The RLA STAAR test will be on April 18th.

Thank you for all you do. Please message me if you need anything 🙂
