PTO Corner
The PTO is in full swing as we continue building connections in the community and forming new partnerships. We're excited to share that we've recently teamed up with Gerry's Cafe, picking up end of day donations a couple of times a week. We're incredibly grateful for their generosity and support - partnerships like this make a real difference for our school.
We're also working on a fun St. Patrick's Day treat for our amazing staff!
We're always eager to welcome new families into the Timber Ridge PTO! Whether you would like to get involved or just learn more about what we do, we'd love to hear from you. Please reach out to us at timberridgepto@nsseo.org for more information or to join. We look forward to building an even stronger community together!
Timber Ridge School Year
February Focus
Our focus for this month has been on taking control of our mental health during the long winter months by staying active; whether it is through field trips, sporting events, going to the gym, playing with your dog in the snow, reading a good book, crafting, cooking, sledding, etc., staying active and focusing on what you can control are great ways to beat the winter blues!
What's Going on Around Timber Ridge
Timber Ridge Events
February was an active month with field trips, Honor Roll Breakfast, and Winter Movie night as we work to strengthen our community through shared events and good times!
March Attendance Tips
🌈 “Spring Into School!” March is a great time to refresh routines. Help your child start each day ready to learn by getting to school on time, every day. 🍀 “Don’t Rely on Luck — Attendance Matters!” Good attendance isn’t about luck. Students who come to school every day build stronger learning habits and friendships. 🌷 “Watch Your Child Grow!” Just like flowers grow with sunshine and care, students grow when they are present at school consistently. ⏰ “Be On Time – Every Minute Counts!” 🚌 “Stay on the Right Path!” 📚 “March Forward With Great Attendance!” 💡 Family Tip:
Arriving on time helps students start the day calm, prepared, and ready for learning.
Regular attendance helps students stay on track academically and socially.
Let’s work together to help students show up, participate, and succeed every day.
Prepare backpacks, clothes, and lunches the night before to make mornings easier and stress-free.
February Attendance
Congratulations to Ms. Crane's and Ms. Sparreo's Classrooms for having 94% attendance for the month of February!

Setting the Stage for Success
Winter Reboot: Refreshing Our Expectations
To kick off the second half of the year, all students participated in a "Winter Reboot." This involved reviewing behavioral expectations for the hallways, classrooms, gym, STEM lab, and school bus. We focused on the core pillars of our school culture: being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible in every environment.
March Cool Tool: Impulse Control
At the end of March, our "Cool Tool"—a short, structured lesson used to explicitly teach expected behaviors—focused on Impulse Control. Students engaged in activities designed to help them stop and think before acting, a vital skill for both academic success and social interactions. To celebrate the completion of this Cool Tool, students enjoyed a special treat of vanilla ice cream with sprinkles!
Celebrations & Incentives
We are so proud of the positive choices our students are making! To celebrate their efforts, we held several special events:
School-Wide Field Trip: As a reward for their hard work, students in grades K-5 enjoyed a trip to the movies to watch GOAT, while our 6th-8th graders attended a Chicago Wolves game.
March Level 2 Incentive: Students who reached Level 2 earned a creative session making slime in the STEM lab.
Level 3 & 4 Incentive: For those who achieved Level 3 and 4, the celebration continues after the holidays! These students will be heading to Arlington Lanes for a bowling trip the week after Spring Break.
Spotlight on STEM
Staying Safe in a Digital World
Our STEM students have spent the last few weeks diving into Digital Citizenship, learning how to navigate the internet with confidence, kindness, and caution. Here is a look at what each level explored:
Primary Grades: The Digital Citizen’s Body
Our youngest learners met a special friend—the Digital Citizen—to understand how their physical bodies help them make good digital choices:
Heart: To remind them to be kind and respectful online.
Feet: To think about the "digital footprint" they leave behind.
Legs: To stand up for others and know when to take a break.
Guts: To listen to that "uh-oh" feeling when something doesn't seem right.
The primary classes also focused on Digital Balance, discussing the importance of putting down the tablet to enjoy "unplugged" time with toys and friends.
Intermediate & Junior High: Navigating the Web
Our older students took a deeper dive into the mechanics of online safety and the reality of life in a connected world. Key topics included:
The Permanent Record: Students discussed how online activity—from comments to photos—stays online and is often permanent. We explored how our "digital footprint" can follow us into the future.
Privacy & Oversharing: Differentiating between what is safe to share and what should stay private.
Digital Strangers: Understanding how to interact (or not interact) with people they don't know in gaming and social spaces.
Spotting Scams: Learning to identify "phishing" attempts—those tricky emails and websites designed to steal information.

Basketball Season
The Timber Ridge Wolves CAAEL Basketball team wrapped up an exciting season with a 3–3 record! Throughout the season, our students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, consistently giving their best effort both on and off the court.
Now, with kickball season just around the corner, excitement is building as students look forward to getting outside and enjoying the warmer weather. As this marks our final season of the year, our Wolves are more motivated than ever to achieve their goals—both on the field and in the classroom.
Go Wolves!

If your child takes medication at school or has food/environmental allergies requiring emergency medication, the nurses will be sending home a letter for your doctor.
Medication orders must be updated every school year.
📋 2nd & 6th Grade Requirements
Students entering 2nd or 6th grade next year must submit state-required physicals, dental exams, and updated vaccines.
