Maple Street High Flying Hawks
On Tuesday, October 27, Maple Street School celebrated our first High Flying Hawks Assembly, recognizing students who bring our Portrait of a Learner pillars to life through their actions, choices, and contributions to our school community!
Replacing our traditional Student of the Week recognition, this new program celebrates students nominated by staff for demonstrating positive behavioral expectations, academic effort and achievement, collaboration, kindness, and personal growth. Each honoree receives a certificate and a special token to use at our schoolβs book vending machine!
A huge thank-you to everyone who made our first assembly such a success! Special thanks to the families who joined us, our Portrait of a Learner Committee for organizing the celebration, and the students and staff who helped lead the assembly, write and present character-focused dialogues, create the slideshow, and showcase student work.
It was a wonderful celebration of the character, talents, and spirit of Maple Street. I am incredibly proud of our students and grateful to be part of such a caring and dedicated school community!

6th Grade Pumpkin Literature Project at MSS
Our sixth-grade students took on a creative literary challenge this week, designing visual representations of characters from books they have read, each incorporating a pumpkin into their creation. The results were outstanding! It was wonderful to see our hallways filled with such imaginative student work, showcasing creativity, literary connections, and thoughtful interpretation.
Well done, sixth graders! A special thank-you to Mrs. Mefford for creating this engaging project and giving students the opportunity to think thematically, make connections to literature, and bring their favorite characters to life!
Maple Street Mock Election - 6th Grade
Our Maple Street School sixth graders had the exciting opportunity to participate in the NH PBS Mock Election as part of Mrs. Smartβs social studies classβand their great work was featured by NH PBS!
This experience gave students an authentic opportunity to connect classroom learning with current events and the election season, engaging in the civic process and exploring the world around them. We are proud to see their learning recognized beyond our school community!
Congratulations to Mrs. Smart and all of our sixth-grade students for their participation and outstanding work! Read the NH PBS Mock Election press release to learn more.
Student Bookfair - Gibson's Book Store
at Parent Teacher Conferences
Please note: You can fill your cart before the fair dates, but the codes won't be active for our school until our assigned week for checkout. They will be live from the 6th through the evening of the 12th.
Weβre excited to partner with Gibsonβs Bookstore for our annual book fair during Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, November 10! This year, weβre trying something new with a local bookstore and look forward to sharing a wonderful selection of books with students and families.
Books will be on display in the main hallway on Monday, November 9, giving students an opportunity to browse and create wish lists. Families can shop in person during conferences on November 10, and books will remain available through Thursday, November 12, for families who are unable to attend conferences.
Canβt make it in person? Families, friends, and relatives can also shop online through Gibsonβs Bookstoreβs MSS Book Fair page. Twenty percent of total sales will benefit Maple Street School, helping support our students and school community. We look forward to celebrating a love of reading with our High Flying Hawks! Thank you for supporting our school and our partnership with a local bookstore.
π Lunch Sign-Up Reminder
Please use the online lunch sign-up each week to let us know if your student plans to purchase a school lunch. Students have been getting more lunches in the lunch line than what is pre-ordered, or requested in the mornings. This helps our cafeteria team prepare enough meals for everyone and ensures we have accurate numbers. Thank you so much for your help and attention to this process.
It is very important for families to pre-order lunches to allow for accurate ordering of food and prevent waste.

Guest and Volunteer Sign In Process
All guests and volunteers entering Maple Street School are required to check in through our Raptor Visitor Management System by scanning their driver's license or other approved identification. This security system is used throughout our schools to help ensure everyone entering the building is properly checked in and accounted for.
As families experienced during this week's High Flying Hawks Assembly, the process is relatively quick but can take approximately one-two minutes per person, especially when several visitors arrive at once. We appreciate your patience and grace as everyone becomes familiar with the new process. Thank you for partnering with us to keep Maple Street a safe and welcoming place for all!
