Dear Eagles,

As we approach Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I want to take a moment to honor the life and legacy of this extraordinary leader. Dr. King's unwavering commitment to justice and equality continues to inspire us to strive for a more equitable and just society.

Dr. King understood the profound impact of education as a powerful tool for social change. He recognized that access to quality education is not a privilege, but a fundamental right for all children. His dream of a society where individuals are judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin, resonates deeply with our commitment to educational equity.

We must actively dismantle the systemic barriers that deny students equitable access to rigorous learning opportunities. This includes ensuring all students have access to:

* Early college and career pathways: Providing students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to succeed in college and their chosen careers.

* Rigorous coursework: Offering challenging academic programs that prepare students for higher education and future success.

* Supportive learning environments: Creating a welcoming and inclusive school climate where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to learn.

We are incredibly grateful to ChiGivesBack for choosing our school to host their MLK Jr. Day of Service. The volunteers will be hard at work organizing rooms, repainting walls, and creating vibrant murals throughout our school. These efforts will not only enhance our school's physical environment but also spread joy, uplift hope, and foster a renewed sense of school pride.

Let us use the activities and additional time off this weekend as an opportunity to reflect on Dr. King's teachings. May our reflections inspire us to recommit ourselves to creating a school where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Onward and upward,

Principal Banks

Equal Opportunity School Survey

Lindblom is a partner school with Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS), a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that underrepresented students have equitable access to America’s most academically intense high school programs and succeed at the highest levels. As part of the partnership, all 9th-12th grade students will be completing the EOS survey during their advisory class on Wednesday, January 15th which will give our staff important information as we begin programming students for classes next year. Our goal is for 90% of our 9th-12th graders to complete the survey.

The garden colloquium is looking for a couple of parent volunteers on colloquium days during the second semester to help with garden and greenhouse activities.
