Adopt a Chromebook
Walden has a small batch of Chromebooks that are old enough that Google will no longer be updating their OS. Due to our needs, these will no longer be usable in our classrooms, but still have life left to give. We are offering these as-is (charger included) to our families at no charge. If you are interested, please reach out to kati.bobo@waldenschool.us. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.
Halloween Parade, Trunk-or-Treat, & Costume Guidelines
Annual Elementary Halloween Parade
Every year Walden Elementary students love to parade around the campus and our adjacent Elder Community to show off all their amazing costumes. We invite parents to come in just before 10:00 (the parade starts at 10) and gather in the cafeteria to partake in the fun. We will play music and classes will take turns parading through the cafeteria after which they will parade through other parts of the campus and through Legacy Village next door. It's a time-honored tradition we look forward to year after year!
Halloween Costume Guidelines
We enjoy celebrating Halloween with your students! It is a perennial favorite of students and faculty alike! As we approach the holiday, we'd like for students & parents to keep our costume guidelines in mind. These guidelines are in place not only for safety but also to ensure that the Walden community remains an inclusive, respectful and thoughtful place, especially during the holidays.
1. No masks are to be worn during school hours. Masks may come to school and be worn during the parade only, before/after which they must be kept in a bag/backpack.
2. No weapons of any kind (even if they are fake) may be brought to school. No exceptions.
3. No culturally insensitive/offensive costumes (please do not dress up as a member of any ethnic or cultural group).
4. No costumes that make it impossible to move around the classroom or school (such as overly large costumes or costumes that impede the arms, legs, or line of sight). Students should be able to move freely through doors, navigate the bathroom independently, and participate in school activities while in costume.
5. Any costume in violation of Walden's regular dress code (costumes that depict hate speech, illegal activity, profanity, sexist/racist sentiments or other discriminatory content, may not be worn; clothes that reveal undergarments or private parts; or accessories that could be considered dangerous) will be subject to being asked to change or getting picked up from school.
Thank you all, in advance, for making Walden a safe and caring community! If you have specific questions about your students costume appropriateness, please contact your child’s teacher or the front office.

Field Trip Donations
Exploring the world is a big part of the Walden experience! We ask that our K-8 families consider if they are able to make a $75.00 donation per child in grades Pre-K through grade 8 to contribute to the year’s activities and field trips. (*If this would cause undue hardship to your family, please do not feel obligated to donate.) These crucial donations make it possible for our students to participate in fun and educational trips such as Soldier Hollow Skiing, the Leonardo Art Museum, Thanksgiving Point, Scera Theater plays, Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, Pumpkin Patches, Space Centers, and more.
