Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians,

Field trip, snow day, science experiments, and so much more. Just another great week at GBS!

We are looking forward this week to have Doug Sutherland, parent and camp counselor, talk with our students about using respectful language in their interactions. He is going to lead conversations with each grade level to help kids think about how their actions impact other students.

For the past few years, we have used a program called 2nd Step to help provide specific training to students regarding bullying and harassment. We are excited to let you all know that we now have access, thanks to grant funding, to the entire program for GBS. We are going to be starting in on the programming when we return from February Vacation.

A reminder about our "Skate Your Heart Away: A GBS Skate Night Event" on Friday 2/14. Families are welcome to come and enjoy some time together, or perhaps you'd like to drop off your student and. More information below!

The ConVal School District invites all residents to a Community Forum discussing the budget, collective bargaining agreement, property tax bills, the proposed withdrawal of Dublin and Francestown from the ConVal School District, and a budget cap petition warrant article.

The event will be held on February 12, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Lucy Hurlin Theatre at ConVal High School. A snow date has been scheduled for February 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM.

We encourage all residents to attend, hear from key speakers, and participate in the discussion on these important topics affecting our community. This event will be live-streamed on the ConVal Events YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@ConValEvents), and it will be available for viewing anytime after the event.

On Tuesday, February 11th, 8th grade students will be visited by the CVHS counselors to begin the process of selecting classes for their Freshman year. The counselors will talk about everything from academic courses and the different opportunities that students will be able to participate in during their upcoming ConVal experience.

We encourage parents/guardians to talk to your students about the counselor visit as they begin the process of charting their high school experience!

On Friday, February 14th, the 8th grade class will take a field trip to ConVal High School for a tour of the Applied Technology Center (ATC). The center introduces students to pathways that lead to high-paying, in-demand careers in areas such as Automotive Technology, Education, Business, Construction, Firefighting, Digital Photography, Manufacturing, and more. We will travel by bus from GBS at 8:30 am and return by 10:00 am. There is no cost for this trip. Permission slips will be handed out to students, or you can use the link below:
