Principals' Peek at the Week
Saints Joseph and John School - May 8, 2025
Thank you to our PTU and SJJ school families for providing teachers and staff with such a fun appreciation week! The PTU Hospitality committee has done a wonderful job honoring and spoiling our SJJ staff all week.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: A JOYFUL MILESTONE
This Saturday, our Second Grade students will be receiving their First Holy Communion! We are so proud of each of them as they take this important step in their faith journey. Please join us in praying for our young Communicants as they prepare their hearts to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.
May this special day be filled with blessings, JOY, and the grace of God's love.
SJJ VIKINGS IN ACTION
Last week, our 6-8 graders traveled outside Ohio for field trips. Our 6th graders went to Michigan and visited Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. Our 7th graders went to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and visited the Cathedral, museums, and even rode the rail cars on the Duquesne Incline . Our 8th graders went to Washington D.C. and visited several museums and monuments.
Cinco de Mayo was celebrated on Monday in our Spanish classes. Mrs. Schenek had some fun with out students during their celebration.
On Tuesday night, we welcomed our new Kindergarten parents for their informational meeting. Thank you, Mrs. Hutchinson, Mrs. Hamski, and Mrs. Schenek for speaking and putting it together. If you are a current family and were unable to attend, your folder was sent home with your preschooler or your student's sibling.
UpCycle Reusable Parts Shop who was at STEAM night came to make flowers with Mrs. Nadeo's class. The flowers were made out of recycled vinyl banners from a mural in Cleveland that was taken down. Since they are vinyl, they are weatherproof. Students had a lot of fun making these flowers.
LITTLE VIKINGS PRESCHOOL
Incredibly, the Littlest Vikings are looking forward to their last week of preschool starting next Monday!
How fitting that our butterflies have begun to emerge from their chrysalids as our littlest students are getting ready to move onto their next academic adventures! Next week, the P3 classes will end their year with beach parties and our P4/PreK classes are looking forward to Graduation Day on Friday. God bless our Little Viking families as we enjoy the upcoming summer.
CONFIRMATION
Congratulations to all of our 8th Grade students who made their Confirmation on Sunday, May 4.
FROM THE SJJ PTU
THIS WEEK is Teacher Appreciation Week - thank you to everyone that has acknowledged our teachers and staff this week for all of their hard work and dedication. A big shout out to the PTU Hospitality Committee (Cara Gleine, Kerri Hudak and Rachael Gordon) for planning the full week of treats and lunches for our staff! Tomorrow is our last day of celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week - we are going to provide our staff with Marco’s Pizza lunch, Crumbl cookies and Dairy Queen ice-cream! We have a wonderful community - thank you to our families that support the PTU fundraisers throughout the year - you make efforts like this possible with your generosity!
8th Grade Scholarship - at the end of every year, the PTU awards (6) $500 scholarships towards next year’s Catholic School High School tuition. Please encourage your 8th grade students to enter an essay - due May 14th. The PTU will announce the winners at 8th Grade graduation on May 29th. The essay is based on the question “How has Sts. Jospeh and John helped you grow in the areas of faith, academics, and service?” We are excited to read your students’ entires! Please ask Mrs. Miller for any additional questions.
