Cold Weather is Here!
As the days get colder and the crisp air of January settles in, we want to remind all students to dress appropriately for the weather. Coats, scarves, mittens, and hats help keep our students cozy and comfortable while enjoying recess, walking to and from school or from the bus, and participating in outdoor activities.
Please make sure your child comes to school prepared for chilly mornings and windy afternoons. Dressing warmly not only helps keep them healthy, but it also ensures they can fully enjoy all the fun and learning each day brings!
Thank you for helping us keep our students warm, safe, and ready to learn!
PTCG News
Oh my lanta, these Coin Wars are getting SERIOUS with our dolphins this week! It has been a battle to keep the top spot, but Ms. Trupp's third graders are currently in the lead with $73.58!!! Mrs. Distelrath's second graders are in second place with $61.25 and Mrs. Sprow's second graders are following close behind in third place with $58.39. PTCG was absolutely BLOWN AWAY to see the amount of sabotage happening to Mrs. Sherrill's kinders on Thursday afternoon with 21 dollar bills in their jar to knock them down from the top spot earlier in the week. The GOOD NEWS is that due to the snow day on 1/15 and the cold day on 1/23, PTCG will be extending our Coin Wars through Tuesday, January 27th to crown a new Class Champion of Coins!!! Be sure to collect your coins and get those dollar bills ready for a final TWO DAYS to battle in out while we get the Dolphin Delight Cart ready for our winners!
Thank you so much to all the families that came out on Friday during the Cold Day to have fun at Chuck E. Cheese! We were so appreciative to the venue for extending the hours to give DeKeyser a whole day to earn 20% proceeds from all the games, food, and fun! We hope you and your kiddos had a blast!!
Our CARE Closet is back open at DeKeyser! The CARE Closet provides essential items to students in need at our school. We are currently restocking our supplies and would great appreciate your donations of new or gently used item. Please see the note below for more information about the items needed. A tremendous THANK YOU to Sarah Keilman for charging the CARE Closet at DeKeyser. Please feel free to email Sarah at sarah.keilman@gmail.com if you have any questions or have a large donation to send in. Thank you for your support!!
Lastly, families that are registered for our Daddy Daughter Dance on January 30th will be receiving an email this weekend with lots of information about the Shelby Banquet Center venue, how to order a corsage for your special little lady, what to expect, a layout of the tables and event space, and a link to request songs for DJ Super Dave. We have been working hard to get all the decorations, table centerpieces, craft tables, and so much more ready for a magical night at our Life of a Snow Girl event! Be sure to check your email for a message this weekend and if you didn't receive one by Sunday evening, please feel free to email PTCG at dekeyserptcg@gmail.com. Thank you!

We Love Our Volunteers and Visitors!
We are asking for your support to help keep our students safe. If you plan to volunteer in our classrooms, work directly with a student and/or chaperone a field trip, etc. you will need to have a volunteer background check on file. The new volunteer application form is located at this link: www.uticak12.org/volunteer. The background check involves multiple state and federal law enforcement databases. We greatly appreciate the involvement of our families and the difference you make at DeKeyser Elementary. Thank you for your partnership with this extra step that will improve safety in our school.
A few reminders:
- Please have all required documentation ready before you begin.
- The application must be completed in one sitting.
- One application can be used for multiple schools
- Once approved, you will be cleared to volunteer in UCS schools
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the DeKeyser Office: OfficeDeKeyser@uticak12.org or 586-797-4400.
