Dear Talley Street Community,
Thank you to everyone who participated in our SLT election. We had nine outstanding candidates, and I am grateful for the strong interest in supporting our school. Congratulations to our newly elected members: Meredith Mason-Ward, DeAndre Harrison, and Chuan Huang. In addition, Amy Hoying will be completing her second year of service on the SLT. Information about the first SLT meeting will be shared soon.
I would also like your cooperation with morning arrival procedures. Recently, some parents have begun dropping off students on Talley Street and having them walk down to the school instead of waiting in the car line. While this may seem quicker, it is not safe, and it is not fair to families who are following the correct procedures. Our car rider process was designed with student safety as the top priority, and we need everyone's partnership to make it work smoothly.
Also, please use your turn signal when approaching the parking lot entrance. With more townhomes and apartments being built nearby, traffic is increasing, and many cars passing through are not part of our school community. Using your signal helps the crossing guard keep traffic moving safely and prevents delays during drop-off. Your cooperation makes a big difference—thank you!
Finally, please note that the Principal Coffee Chat on September 12 will now begin at 8:30 a.m. This change is intended to give families with younger children in K–2 more time to drop off siblings and return to Talley. I hope you'll join us for conversation and connection.
Wishing you a wonderful Thursday and a great weekend ahead!
Warmly,
Billy

Important Information about Gifted Review (Deadline: October 1)
Each fall semester the gifted review team looks at existing student data to discuss students’ needs and determine if further evaluation for gifted identification is needed. If you are interested in having the team discuss your child’s needs, you may complete a Recommendation for Review Form and turn it into the Gifted & Talented Specialist at your child’s school before Wednesday, October 1. No additional information is needed. The Gifted & Talented Specialists for Talley Street Elementary are Lindsey Combs, Nicole Fiber, and Ashley Forman.
