CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS NEWS CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS NEWS

JROTC: Our annual Hail and Farewell event is Friday, May 16th, 5-6:30 p.m. at the Senior Campus. Our incoming cadets for next year can meet upperclassmen and get a feel for the Corps, and our seniors can enjoy one last activity.

Our Varsity One Drone Team, “The Flying Penguins,” qualified for and will compete in the South Central Drone Regional Championships May 17th and 18th. Wish them luck!

We have more than twenty cadets traveling the first week of June to the Cadet Leadership Course and Cadet Senior Leadership Course in Abilene. It will be a challenging and rewarding experience.

Finally, our Joint Leadership Academic Bowl Varsity Team travels to Washington DC June 20th-24th to compete in the National Championship as one of only sixteen teams to qualify. Good luck!

JROTC SCHOOL PHYSICALS: As with sports, band, and many other school activities, CISD requires all JROTC cadets to complete a physical examination. Any doctor, including walk-in clinics (no appointment necessary), can complete this requirement as long as they use the official CISD form (available at https://5il.co/32xnj). Physicals can be completed now to avoid the rush when school starts in August. If your child has already completed their physical via another school activity (e.g., football, band, etc.) that physical is also valid for JROTC. Some cadets have already turned in their forms for next year--thank you!

MEET IN THE MIDDLE: Our mission is to bring students with intellectual disabilities together with their typically developing peers for food, fun and physical activities! EVERYONE is welcome to join! We meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Mondays from 2:45-3:30 p.m. Questions? Contact the sponsor, Dianne Maberry at dmaberry@conroeisd.net. Check us out on IG @twhs.mim. THANK YOU, EVERYONE FOR AN AMAZING 2024-25 YEAR! SEE YOU ON SEPTEMBER 8th FOR OUR MIXER AND KICKOFF! PARENTS: contact dmaberry@conroeisd.net if you can provide SNACKS for a meeting NEXT year!

STUDENT COUNCIL: Thank you, Highlanders, for another fun filled year. We're already planning some exciting events for next year. Please mark your calendars for our first meeting of the 2025-26 school year on Monday, August 25th. (Time and location TBD) If you're interested in joining or have any questions before then please contact our new sponsor, Mrs. Ashley Harbin, at aharbin@conroeisd.net Have a wonderful summer! 😎

CLINIC NOTES CLINIC NOTES

May 23rd at 12:00 p.m. is the deadline to request copies of vaccine records to be emailed to you, pick up original Conscientious Objector affidavits (if your child is leaving TWHS), or check out any remaining medications. Any medication left after that time will be discarded; we are not allowed to send it home with students, or store it over the summer.

If you plan to come on one of the half days during exam week to check out medication, please be aware that we may only be available while students are on campus; we highly recommend calling before coming. The clinic at the main campus can be reached at 936-709-1209, and the 9th grade campus clinic’s phone number is 832-592-8208.

  • Please notify the clinic if you do not plan to pick up your child’s medication by 12:00 p.m. on May 23rd, and prefer for it to be discarded on the last day of school.

● If your child has a medical condition such as asthma, severe environmental or food allergies, diabetes, migraines, or seizures, please remember that doctor’s orders must be renewed each school year. If you need new forms for the 2025-26 year, you can access them on the Health Services website at https://www.conroeisd.net/o/cisd/page/healthservices or your doctor is welcome to use their own form.

● If your child has a change in health over the summer, please be sure to note that on the online enrollment that you are asked to complete in July. One important item to update on there are any food allergies that your child has. That information is shared with the cafeteria staff, and they will not sell your child any items that are currently listed as an allergy.

  • If your child previously had a food allergy that is no longer current, Child Nutrition will not remove it from their account unless a parent specifically requests its removal.

● Please schedule doctor’s appointments during the summer so that we can have a plan and medication (if needed) in place for the first day of school. Parents are welcome to check in medications to the clinic beginning on schedule pick-up days at the end of the summer; lines are generally very long on the first day of school.

● If your student is participating in athletics or band over the summer and has a chronic medical condition, they will need to have their plan and any needed emergency medications turned in to the athletic trainers by the first day of practice. If they have orders to carry an Epi-pen, inhaler, or diabetic supplies, they will need to show the coach that they have them.

● If your child has a vaccine or new Conscientious Objector Exemption due over the summer, please be aware they will not be allowed to pick up their schedule, get a parking space, or start school in August without first submitting proof that the requirement has been completed. Notification letters have been mailed home.

● If your child has borrowed any clothing from the clinic this school year, we would appreciate it if you would wash any pants or shirts and return them. We have very few pairs of pants remaining.

We hope you and your family have a safe and healthy summer, and we look forward to seeing you in August!

LIBRARY: Please check your Destiny account (in the SSO) to see if you have anything overdue, lost or have any fines to pay. Failure to clear your library account will interfere with getting a parking permit next year. Don't wait, because after the last day of school, the campus will not be accessible. Library accounts will be locked until we return to school in August and are able to process returns again. Please contact the librarians if you have any questions.

MOVING OVER THE SUMMER: If you are aware know that you will be moving during the summer and will not be attending TWHS next year, please pick up a Summer Mover Notification form from the registrar on your student’s campus. The form should be completed and signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Sidney Vance, Sr. Campus Registrar, or Carolyn Czubinski, 9th Grade Campus Registrar, before the last day of school.

If you become aware after school is out that you are moving out of the TWHS attendance zone, please go by the 9th Grade Campus during summer office hours (Mon.-Thur. 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) to complete the Summer Mover Notification form as the Sr. Campus will be closed all summer. Thank you! Sidney Vance, Sr. Campus registrar - svance@conroeisd.net, Carolyn Czubinski, 9th Grade Campus registrar - cczubinski@conroeisd.net

STUDENT & FAMILY RESOURCES: https://twhs.conroeisd.net/o/twhs/page/student-family-resources

WELCOME CENTER SUPPORT FOR NEW FAMILIES: If you know someone planning to move to the area this summer especially from another country and they have questions about the community, school enrollment requirements, academics, healthcare, or other concerns, please share this information with them.

Conroe ISD has a Welcome Center dedicated to supporting families who are new to the district and unfamiliar with the enrollment process. Our community is known for its warmth and hospitality, and we are committed to supporting new families as they settle in and become part of our district. Iytzia Cardenas, with over 13 years of experience and a personal understanding of this transition, is available to guide and support families every step of the way, helping them feel welcomed and informed. You can reach her by email at icardenas@conroeisd.net or via WhatsApp at 281-220-9527.

Student Absence Reporting

ABSENT REPORTING APP: In an effort to make things easier for our families, CISD is launching an app to help you report your student's absences to our school when they are out. Documentation such as doctor's notes will still need to be submitted to our campus attendance office, but we are excited about the convenience of this new app. You will access it through the Parent Portal. The directions are included in the link. https://kb.conroeisd.net/kb/absence-reporting-system-app-parent-directions

NEW CAMPUS WEBSITE: Over the next few weeks, campuses across the District, including ours, will launch a new website. When that happens, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the refreshed design and set new bookmarks for your browsing convenience. You can also download the new Conroe ISD app on your device’s app store and customize the pages and news you want to see.

Additionally, you will receive information about our new mass communication system called Alerts in the coming weeks. Be on the lookout for texts from 98900 when the new system is implemented. Emails and texts may look slightly different, but they’ll still contain all of the great information we share. These transitions are part of a bigger initiative to bring efficiency to the District’s communication platforms, and more exciting updates will come!

SCHOOL CASH ONLINE: Attention Parents: Please be sure to check your child's School Cash Online account frequently. The website is www.conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com. Fees are added throughout the year for various activities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fees charged to your child, please contact the classroom teacher or club sponsor. Failure to pay fees listed as "required" or "overdue" may result in a student not being permitted to participate in some extracurricular activities. If you need assistance logging in to School Cash Online or adding and viewing your child's account, please visit schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support and view the resources available to help.
