Thomas W. Hamilton Elementary
September 13, 2026
Hello Hamilton Community!
We started this last week with a welcome back assembly and finished out the week wrapping up new routines and procedures. All students have worked on learning, understanding, and demonstrating expected behaviors across all areas of the building.
As we approach our first full week, this is a reminder that on Friday 9.18 it is our first spirit day, DECADES DAY. Dig through the closet and come up with your best outfit to represent a past decade. Poodle skirts or tie dye and fringe or even some bell bottom pants. Make it a little more modern with neon and leg warmers or flannel and band t-shirt. We look forward to seeing your fashion!

PBIS & Paws
Students brought home a parent letter on Friday that explains our behavioral expectations and how we will work as a community to reinforce the positive behaviors. Take some time to review with your student at home.
SEPAC Kick-Off Meeting!
Join us as we kick off a new school year with your SEPAC board! We’ll introduce our board members, hear updates from the Student Services Director, and—most importantly—give families an opportunity to share their input, ideas, and priorities for programming this school year.
Come connect with other families, learn what’s ahead, and help us shape a year of meaningful support and inclusion for our students and families.

Backpack Program
The Weymouth Food Pantry has partnered with Weymouth Public Schools to continue the Backpack Program, which provides food to participating students weekly to meet their nutritional needs over the weekend. Bags include items such as juice boxes, granola bars, mac & cheese cups, goldfish crackers, and milk. The menu will vary weekly.
School staff and volunteers will prepare a bag of food for each child and connect it to the student by Friday afternoon. These bags are free, open to all students, and sponsored by the Weymouth Food Pantry.
Please complete the Google Form below by Friday, October 16, 2026 if your child would benefit from receiving additional food to take home over the weekends. If you would like to sign up for the program after October 16, please contact your child’s school for assistance.
All families must re-enroll each school year so we can confirm current information, including any food allergies or dietary needs.
Weymouth residents are also encouraged to check out WFP’s pop-up pantry schedule here: Weymouth Food Pantry Calendar

Neurodiversity Assembly
This upcoming week, Grades K-2 will be introduced to the topic of neurodiversity during an assembly by Katy Boucher from The Accord School in Norwell, Massachusetts.
Students will discover how everyone thinks, plays, and learns differently. They will learn about Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, and hear firsthand experiences about the joys and challenges of neurodivergence from middle schoolers through compelling videos. Students will discuss the importance of fairness and empathy.
Parents who wish to continue the conversation at home can use this simple, helpful online guide provided by Katy.
Grades 3-5 will participate in their own presentation in October!

Repeated Information
Nutrislice App
Need some more details about the school lunches? Like allergens, ingredients, or just need to check out the menu on the go? Download Nutrislice in the app store.
Lunch Code
Your student will have a slight change in how they receive their lunch this year. Instead of scanning a ticket, students will be required to punch in a code in the lunch line. We will support students with this until they can learn to use the pin pad efficiently.
Parent Council
A large part of what makes our school community such a great place to be is the strong Parent Council organization. This is for every Hamilton parent to get involved in, whether on a small or large scale, working to bring experiences for our students that go above and beyond general school offerings.
Please consider lending a hand to this dedicated organization.
Monthly meetings are held via Zoom. Please join us whenever it fits in your schedule. No need to even turn your camera on! Each meeting we will discuss ongoing initiatives and upcoming events.
Our Parent Council President, Meri Hannon, can be contacted at twhpc1@gmail.com or on Facebook
