Developing a Safe, Healthy & Connected Culture
Dear Fremont Families,
As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, we remain committed to cultivating a safe, compassionate, and inclusive environment where every student belongs.
Following our Year One adult training, we are excited to launch Year Two of our District-wide RULER rollout—an evidence-based social-emotional learning framework from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. RULER helps students build the essential skills outlined in our Portrait of a Graduate:
Resilient Learners: Using the Mood Meter and Meta-Moment, students learn to recognize, label, and regulate their feelings to handle daily challenges with resilience.
Responsible Citizens: Classrooms will create a Class Charter—a shared agreement on how to treat one another with respect and ensure everyone feels included.
Courageous Leaders: Using restorative tools like the Blueprint, students learn to resolve peer conflicts with empathy and safely stand up against exclusion.
To learn more about our social-emotional learning framework and resources, please visit our Learning & Student Services Department Website. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.
Warm regards,
Krista Winkelman
Executive Director of Student Services

School Safety Parent University—September 30
Fremont School District 79, in collaboration with the Fremont PTO, is excited to once again offer Parent University programming to our families throughout the 2026-27 school year. Together, we are offering programming on a variety of topics related to the District's goals that might interest our parent community.
Please make plans to join us for our first in-person presentation of the year on Wednesday, September 30. We sincerely hope you take advantage of these opportunities to learn and connect with others.
Free childcare is offered for children ages 3+ for any in-person events. While it is not required to RSVP (see below for the link), we ask that you please do so if you intend to take advantage of the childcare opportunity. For more information, please visit our Parent University webpage.
eLearning Day Procedures (for Emergency Days)
Fremont School District 79 will continue to utilize eLearning days (for emergency days) for the 2026-2027 academic year. As a reminder, these eLearning days are implemented in the event of school closings, due to reasons such as inclement weather, instead of the traditionally scheduled emergency days at the end of the academic year.
The complete eLearning Day Procedures may be accessed by clicking here. As eLearning days continue to be implemented, the goal remains to provide families and staff with a more predictable school calendar, while also maintaining continuity in student learning.
