Wit and Wisdom Tableua for Flower Day

Kindergarten students explore creating a tableau of the painting, Flower Day during a Wit & Wisdom lesson. Creating a tableau helps students have a deeper understanding of the material.

Science Fun

First Graders are learning about animal traits and how some traits change as animal babies grow. They had to look closely at individual traits to try and match lost baby birds with their mother.

3D Shape Hunt

Students went on a 3D shape hunt around the classroom. They quickly recognized cylinders are all around, while pyramids and cones occur much less!

Fifth Grade Writing

Fifth graders are writing a comparative essay of characters that they have been studying in their first module of Wit and Wisdom. A large focus has been on using text evidence to support their thinking. Students are peer reviewing classmates' work to make sure they included all parts of their writing checklist in their essay.

Read Across America Week is Coming

On Monday, March 2nd, we kick off Read Across America Week. The week is a celebration of reading, books, and our community as a place where we don't just "promote" literacy it is part of who we are. The week features Guest Readers, DEAR, two spirit days, a reading challenge, a Book Swap (love this new idea), and Literacy Night. On Thursday, March 5th is Literacy Night with a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme. It is going to be great!

Why Can't I Skip My Reading Tonight?

A regular reading practice makes all the difference...Here and now and in the future. The vision for our school is that "Each and every individual will make at least one year's growth in Reading and Math." This isn't just so students are successful in elementary school, middle school, or high school. In a society where literacy is critical to life success, five minutes reading or five minutes extra reading regularly is a springboard to success. It doesn't have to be just fiction books. Read magazines. Read recipes. Read graphic novels.
