Mrs. Johnson's Journaling

We only have 5 days left in the Fall Semester. I cannot believe it! It has gone by so fast. We have been really enjoyed having your students this year and are happy that most of that time has been face-to-face learning. We will have our winter classroom parties on December 18th, unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions, parents will not be allowed to attend. Look for notes from your child's teacher concerning their plans or needs for the classroom party.

We know many people are planning to travel right now. Please remember that these absences are not excused. After 7 unexcused absences, we are mandated reporters. If 10 unexcused absences happen in a row, your child could be dropped as a no show. Please keep this in mind as you are making your travel plans. 1 more week until Winter Break. We will see all students back at school on January 4th.

Lexia Update

This week we had 79 students grow one level in Lexia Core 5! We are so proud of all the growth our students are making.

As always, we are here to help! Please contact us at (479)750-8760 or email us at bayyariinfo@sdale.org.

December Lost and Found

Please have your students check the lost and found if they are missing a jacket, lunchbox, or other item. This is an updated December picture of lost and found. We have many items that students have lost. Also, if you write your child's name on their things it makes it easier to get it back to them.

Nurse's Update Nurse's Update

We are tracking and reporting flu numbers. Please call Nurse Alicia or the office if your child has tested positive for the flu. Your child's name will not be used in the report.

Please remember to fill out the COVID form at go.sdale.org/covid if your child has been exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID or if they are positive for COVID. Also, please let Nurse Alicia or the office know.

We have updated the quaratine days if your child has no symptoms due to CDC guidelines changing. Please see the graphic below.

How to Create Holiday Traditions with Your Children

Creating Holiday traditions with your children can be so meaningful. Making memories with your children can last a lifetime for all of you. I read an article titled “25 Holiday Traditions to Start This Year” at www.parents.com. I really enjoyed some of their suggestions in creating those “Holiday Traditions”. I have listed some of my favorites.

1. Find a movie to watch yearly as a tradition.

2. Create your own Christmas calendar.

3. Write a letter to Santa.

4. Make the house smell like spice.

5. Play “I Spy” with Christmas Ornaments.

6. Have a Christmas ornament exchange.

7. Read “The Night before Christmas” on Christmas Eve.

8. Listen to Audio Christmas Books.

9. Start a tradition that is silly.

10. Find a family in need to adopt yearly.

I hope your family can choose some of these great examples to start your own tradition. Enjoy your holiday memories with your loved ones!
