Dear HMS Families,

We had a great week back after mid-winter break! We have been gifted amazing weather for the last half of the week and it was so nice to be outside with all of our students today. Today showed us once again how amazing our kids are!

We just wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to our Hockinson community for being our biggest supporters! It felt amazing to have so many people come to our home basketball games and cheer on our kids. We felt and appreciate your support more than we can ever express.

Did you know that WA State provides free breakfast and lunch in Washington schools where at least 30% of students qualify for free / reduced price lunches (read the RCW here). Currently 29.375% of HMS students qualify for free / reduced lunch. We want to encourage any HMS families who may qualify for free / reduced lunch to complete an application. Students who qualify may also be entitled to other benefits such as SUN Bucks, reduced fees for sports, ASB, and Running Start, and the College Bound Scholarship.

We hope that we will be able to provide no-cost meals to our HMS families next school year. Thank you for your help!

It has been a fast and furious start to the season. Our basketball teams have played some really close hard fought games and our knowledge bowl team got off to a successful start last night. Both teams host home events in the coming weeks and we would love to have you at a knowledge bowl competition or a basketball game if you have the opportunity to come and support our athletes and coaches. Go Hornets!

Upcoming Sports Registration - Track & Field

Track and Field is currently open and the season will begin Monday 4/13. Track and Field is open to current 7th and 8th grade boys and girls. Please make sure that your athlete has a current physical on file, and all forms are signed through FinalForms prior to the first day of practice.

The Hockinson PWT is excited to continue supporting the students and staff at Hockinson Middle School this year! In partnership with school administration, we are raising funds for two important initiatives: Staff Appreciation activities HMS Staff Hospitality and new Recess Equipment HMS Recess Equipment.

• Our fundraising goal for staff hospitality this year is $2,500.
• Our fundraising goal for recess equipment this year is $300.

Your support makes a big difference in creating a positive, engaging environment for our students and showing appreciation for our hardworking staff. We would love your help in contributing to these important fundraisers, thank you for being part of our community!
