The Dawg Dispatch is our weekly snapshot of life as a Bulldawg, straight facts, clear wins, and what’s next, so families and staff can pull in the same direction. It reflects our mission:
“The mission of the Aberdeen School District is to inspire ALL students to become problem-solvers, lifelong learners, and productive members of society.”

🐛🔬 Hands-On Science in Action in Mrs. Britt’s Explore Class!
Students in Mrs. Britt’s Explore class were hard at work exploring the life cycle of mealworms through an engaging, hands-on science investigation. Using real observations, students classified mealworms as larvae, pupae, and adults, tracked changes over time, and used visual supports and text features to deepen their understanding.
This interactive lesson encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and the use of scientific vocabulary while allowing students to explore new discoveries up close. Learning truly came to life as students observed, recorded, and discussed each stage of the mealworm life cycle!
Experiences like these help make science meaningful, memorable, and exciting for our students at Aberdeen School District.
Belle-Shivers Middle School Math Boot Camp Kickoff a Success
Belle-Shivers Middle School successfully launched its Math Boot Camp, which was met with high levels of student engagement and enthusiasm. Students were actively involved in the learning process, demonstrating focus, collaboration, and a strong commitment to academic growth.
The Aberdeen School District extends kudos to the students for their dedication, as well as to the faculty and staff for their planning, instruction, and support in making the Math Boot Camp a success.
Great job to everyone involved!
Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council Kicks Off the New Year
Dr. Smith held the first Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council meeting of the new year on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The meeting served as a welcome back and a positive start to 2026, bringing student leaders together to reflect, refocus, and look ahead.
Scholars discussed personal and schoolwide goals and what it takes to move from good to greater. Students also participated in roundtable problem-solving activities and shared their voices on additional initiatives impacting schools across the district.
Aberdeen School District values student leadership and believes meaningful progress happens when scholars are given a seat at the table. These conversations help ensure our work stays grounded in what matters most, student success.
🎉 Congratulations, Aberdeen Elementary! 🎉
Our students read an impressive 224,595 this week! 📚🐾
That kind of dedication shows exactly what happens when hard work and #BulldawgPride come together.
Keep turning those pages, scholars, you’re building habits that last a lifetime. 💙
Winter Convocation 2025-2026: Saddling Up for a Strong Finish
Aberdeen School District was proud to welcome Keith Brown as our guest speaker for Winter Convocation. On Monday, January 5, 2026, faculty and staff were encouraged to saddle up for a strong finish as we launched the spring semester with purpose and momentum.
Keith also served as a trainer for district leaders and administrators, reinforcing the importance of visible, steady leadership. Our leadership team has their boots on the ground and is ready to finish strong, focused on supporting staff, strengthening schools, and keeping students at the center of every decision.
We are grateful for our volunteers and generous sponsors whose support helped make this meaningful event possible. Their commitment to the Aberdeen School District continues to make a lasting difference.
Welcome to Our New Board Member
Aberdeen School District proudly welcomed our new board member, Tawanda Johnson, to the team on Monday, January 5, 2026. We look forward to her service and leadership as we continue working together to support our students, staff, and community.
Strong governance matters, and we appreciate the commitment of those who step forward to serve.
We are excited for the work ahead.

January Mental Health Awareness e-Tip 🧠 Week 1: Start Strong, Stay Well (Attendance)
Your presence matters—but so does your health. Begin the semester by pacing yourself, staying hydrated, and managing stress early. Taking care of your mental well-being helps you stay engaged, focused, and present for students.
Connection: Healthy habits support consistent attendance.
🎓 Wednesdays Are for College Pride!
Every Wednesday, we encourage students and staff to wear college shirts! Why? Because seeing those college names and logos reminds our students that higher education is possible for them, whether it’s a school close to home or one across the country. It’s a simple way to spark conversations, plant dreams, and keep students motivated toward their future goals. Let’s show them that the road to college starts right here in Bulldawg Country!
💙🐾 Give a Bulldawg a Compliment! 🐾💙
