Learning Comes Alive with Mrs. B.
Learning and Growing
Our week in kindergarten and first grade has been great! We finished addition and subtraction in math for kindergarten and 1st grade this week. Next week, we will be doing measurements in both grades! We continued our read-a-thon!! As a class, we have read 310 books in the past 2 weeks! Students are working hard and enjoying their time reading! We had our second guest reader Friday morning. It was our former teacher Mrs. Mann! We will have our last guest reader next Friday! The boy and girls also had their second Cornucopia gardening class this week! This week, they learned about the parts of a seed and planted some asparagus and kale! The sunflower plants that we are taking care of in our classroom are sprouting! The boys and girls are doing a nice job taking care of them. We also had a new friend join our class this week. The boys and girls have been very welcoming!

Earth and Erosion
Last week, 2nd grade started exploring how water shapes the Earth's surface through two different experiments. This week, in LMR, they got to experiment more using sand, gravel, skittles, and chalk. The results blew them away!
Hands-on Learning with Mrs. Doell
Traveling with Light
Our final LMR session of the year was a unit about Light Energy. Miss Brett had 6 stations set up, so we all got lots of hands-on learning!

Backyard Games and Keeping Healthy
This week in PE, all grades got to explore some backyard games as they worked hard on their final two units of the year, scoop ball and frisbee. Both games work on hand/eye coordination and hitting a stationary target. They practiced their scoop ball skills with station rotations, while to practice their frisbee skills they played around of frisbee golf. The final two weeks of PE students will get to review some of the units we've learned and practiced throughout the year, while also playing some fan favorite games.
In health this week kindergarten and first grade wrapped up their unit on the respiratory system and how to take care of their lungs. Second grade loaded onto the Magic School Bus to learn about the importance of gravity and how it both helps and creates a barrier on performing a slam dunk. While fourth grade started to explore the topic of adolescence and keeping healthy as they age into the middle school years.

Please Remember!
Notice about bug spray and sunscreen:
With Spring weather comes ticks, bug bites, and sunburns! Please apply sunscreen and/or insect repellent to your student before school in the morning, if you wish to do so. Additionally, it is important to perform daily tick checks on your student, as they do spend time outdoors daily at school and ticks tend to travel to warm areas of the body that are not visible without a thorough check. Thanks for your help!
