Welcome back from winter break! We were all so excited to see all the students enter the halls after being away for a couple weeks. Please see below for all the new happenings at PHS.
As we return and get back into the swing of things, we want to remind everyone about the importance of attendance. We have spoken with all of the students here and presented our attendance policy reminders and a few tweaks we have made to ensure that students are getting into class! We need your help with this as well, please call our office whenever your student is out so we can correctly mark their attendance.
This newsletter also contains information on athletics, fundraisers, the upcoming play and first looks at some important Senior information!
It's another great year to be Bronco Nation!

** Special Request from the Pop Can Drive team **
We are seeking someone willing to help on site for the Monthly Pop Can Drive for Feb 4, March 4, and April 1 of 2023. The event runs from 9am-1pm on the dates listed above. We need a volunteer who can tow the pop can trailer from the Parkrose District Office to the Middle School and back on those date. The volunteer will need a vehicle with a trailer hitch and experience towing a trailer. The pop can trailer is 24 ft. long. Typically a large SUV such as a Suburban or Tahoe OR a ½ ton pickup works best.
I will continue to coordinate volunteers, however, we need someone who will transport the trailer to and from the middle school on the day of the event and be on site at Parkrose Middle School during the 4 hour event. Pleases contact Patty Meighen at 503-333-3969.

Inclement Weather Messaging
Decisions to close school or delay starting times are always difficult. Before a decision is made, school officials monitor weather conditions and personally check roads in higher elevation areas. If conditions are severe enough to threaten the safety of students traveling to and from school, a decision is made to close or delay school. This decision should be made by 6am.
Information can be found by following:
Local TV & Radio Media Stations will also receive our FlashAlert Messaging
STAMP (Language) Testing
We will once again offer the STAMP exam this year. The University of Oregon created the Avant STAMP (STAndards-based Measurement of Proficiency) language test to improve language-learning outcomes and support excellence in language programs. The exam measures student growth, qualifies students for the state or global Seal of Biliteracy, and awards Competency-Based Credits. In 2021-2022, 115 students took the STAMP exam in their preferred language. We awarded 346 credits, and 22 students qualified for the Oregon Seal of Biliteracy.
The next exam will take place on Friday, February 3rd. Watch for information about signing up to come out in a couple weeks.
