MAP Testing Begins September 23rd
School District 104 will administer the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress Growth, or MAP Growth, assessments as part of a comprehensive assessment system. NWEA MAP Growth is a nationally normed, standardized achievement test which measures what students know and informs what they're ready to learn next by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the ability and knowledge of the student. Your child's teacher will use the results of the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to better understand your child's individual needs and to help him/her progress in the assessed area. Because the assessment is a growth measure, it can track the growth of the student between testing events and over multiple years of testing.
It is imperative that you child comes to school on time and with a charged Chromebook.
The results of these assessments will help determine programming placement.
This test will be administered to 1st-5th Grade Students.
PBIS Celebration-Selfie Challenge October 1st
On Wednesday October 1st, ALL students will participate in our first PBIS Celebration! Students and staff will have a "Selfie Challenge" by participating in an activity and taking a awhile class selfie after. This activity promotes a positive classroom and school community.

School Information and Procedures
Notes from the Nurse
Hello Walker families! Please see below for a few announcements.
First, please take a look at the attached letter for parents. This will explain in detail when to keep your student home due to illness and the procedures to follow when doing so. With this being said, cold and flu season is just about here if it hasn't hit your household already.
Second, all kindergarten students as well as new students to our district should have an updated eye exam as well as dental exam. Please turn in these items as soon as possible so your student's health file can be in good standing.
Lastly, if your student wears glasses, please make sure your student has them daily. Part of providing a safe learning is making sure your child is prepared with all the necessary materials to be successful at Walker.
Your cooperation and support is greatly appreciated!
Student Vehicle Drop-Off Procedures
In an effort to increase safety at Walker Elementary School, with cooperation with the Bedford Park Police Department and the Village of Bedford Park, we will be implementing a student drop-off line for all families traveling by vehicles. This drop-off line will be monitored by school personnel, and supported by the Bedford Park Police Department. This line will be available from 7:25 AM to 7:50 AM and is located at 66th place, adjacent to Walker Elementary School. When dropping off students, please proceed to marked area. Drivers will remain in their vehicle, and students will exit out the passenger side of the vehicle. Students will be assisted by school personnel. All families wishing to walk their students to the school, please park your vehicle in the public parking area located on 67h Street in front of the Swanson Center.. Parking on residential streets is prohibited and will be strictly enforced by the Bedford Park Police Department. Please see below for detailed map and instructions.
