SAFETY AND HEALTH
Due to the many buses being used to transport students to and from Ashland Park-Robbins, safety becomes an even greater concern. We will continue to work with the Omaha Police Department in making arrival and dismissal safe for all students.
For parents who pick their child(ren) up at the front of the building each day, we thank you for placing safety first as we cross children to cars and daycare vans. Please follow the directions of the Security Guard and staff as we work to get all children to their families in a safe manner.
Our district continues to put the safety and health of all students, their families, and our staff as our top priority, thus we will continue wearing masks while on school grounds and in our building at this time. We thank you for your understanding and support!
SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH
Again this year, OPS has received a federal grant that allows OPS to serve breakfast and lunch to all students at NO COST to parents.
Ashland Park-Robbins will again be serving a Grab ‘N Go breakfast. Students may eat in their classrooms from 8:30-8:50 a.m. The students must enter the school through the front of the building only. Students receive a clear bag from a staff member when they come to the cafeteria, and it is filled by cafeteria staff with the items that are served for each meal. We serve hot and cold breakfast selections, as well as hot and cold lunch selections, also. Students do have choices at both breakfast and lunch.

Kindergarten Arrival Procedures
· Wear backpack nametag. The nametag will be given out at Back-To-School Night or sent home the first day of school.
· Go in north main front doors and say goodbye to parents.
· Walk upstairs to get breakfast in cafeteria.
· Sit at the table with your classroom name and color.
· Teachers will be in the cafeteria to greet children and walk them to the classroom to eat breakfast.
· Follow this same procedure for the first 5 days of school.
We encourage our Kindergarten students to gain independence right away. Parents are welcome to walk their child into the cafeteria the first 2 days of school. Beginning Wednesday, August 18th students will walk to the cafeteria on their own. Their teacher will be waiting for them and will continue to walk them to their classroom. On Monday, August 23rd the students will get breakfast and come to the classroom on their own.
Kindergarten Dismissal Procedures
Our priority is the safety of your child. To insure a safe dismissal, Kindergarten Teachers will remain with their students at all times. Teachers will not be able to walk students to vehicles. If you are picking up your child, it is recommended that you are at their dismissal door a few minutes early.
· All Kindergarten classrooms dismiss from the north side of the building.
Bryan and Johnson – Dismiss from outside classroom door
McDonald– Dismiss from Door 3B
Drozda-Radden and Janecek – Dismiss from Door 2A
· Teachers will walk students along the north sidewalk and in the front of the building.
· Bus students will be placed on the bus by their teacher.· After buses are loaded, Kindergarten teachers will take all remaining students to the north main front doors. Parents will need to pick their child up at this location. This is for the safety of your child.
Attendance Matters-- Attend, Aspire, Graduate
- Establish a regular bed time and morning routine.
- Prepare materials and clothing the evening before.
- Do not let your student stay home unless your child is sick.
- Schedule medical appointments and extended trips when school is not in session.
Help your children have the best chance of success.
iPads and your return to in-person learning
Charging your iPad nightly is the best thing you can do to ensure your success at school. Rooms are equipped with power strips, but they tend to fill up quickly. Do yourself a favor and charge regularly and always have your OPS charger with you.
Also, please remember to always carry your iPad in your backpack.
