Kindergarten Goes to the Zoo
On Thursday, the Kindergarten class enjoyed a beautiful day at the Denver Zoo. Students loved seeing the animals, sharing lunch together, and exploring all the exhibits. It was a fun and memorable experience for everyone!
5th Grade Science
FCCLA Cook Around the World
Six FCCLA students — Tymber Wernsman, Estrella Arteaga, Shirley West, Alex Galindo, Tristan Hall, and Aubree Bulik — along with their advisor, Peggy Hall, spent the week in Orlando competing at the Cook Around The World at Epcot.
The competition was intense, featuring teams from 32 states, 82 schools, and 751 students. Our team created both an appetizer and a main dish using mystery ingredients they were given during the event. Their hard work and creativity paid off as they earned Best Regional Overall, the Judges Award, and Best Appetizer — bringing home more awards than any other team at the competition!
While in Florida, the students also enjoyed visiting Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort. Celebrity chef Duff Goldman served as a mentor during the event, making the experience even more memorable. It was truly a trip to remember!
Donut Forget About CTE
High school students in FBLA, FCCLA, and FFA visited with the 8th grade class on Tuesday morning to share the importance of participating in CTE programs and highlight what each organization has to offer. It was a great and informative morning! Students involved in CTE programs have a 10% higher graduation rate, making these opportunities even more valuable for future success.
Battle of the Book
Five 8th grade students traveled to Sterling on Monday to compete in the Battle of the Books. The students prepared by dividing a list of 25 books among themselves, with each member responsible for reading their assigned titles prior to the competition.
The team competed in five rounds against schools from across the region, with each round consisting of 24 questions. They had a great time and did an excellent job showcasing their knowledge of the books they read!
Track
Monday marked the final regular season track meet—and what a way to finish! We saw tremendous improvement across the board, with PRs, event winners, and GREAT weather to top it off. Akron athletes are coming home with a sling of winner T-shirts!

Golf
The Akron Varsity golf team traveled to Brush today to compete in the Brush Invite. The weather was much better than yesterday and golfers played well against stiff competition, finishing in the middle of the pack. Great job!
Baseball
Districts didn’t go as planned, as the Rams fell to Merino 12–2. Despite the loss, the team is still in the hunt for a spot at state. They’ll get another opportunity this Saturday in Lamar, where they’ll face Stratton at 12:00 PM.
Come support and cheer on the Rams! Good luck at Regionals!
