An Update from the Superintendent's Office - March 2022

Knightly NewsAn Update from the Superintendent's Office - March2022

Spring will soon be upon us! We are looking forward to some warmer weather but are also prepared for the fluctuating weather we all love here in Nebraska. This year continues to fly by. The third quarter will come to a close on March 9. I'd encourage you to check your child's grades in PowerSchool now. If he/she is missing any assignments, there is still time to get those turned in. Waiting until the last day though may prove to be too late to improve those 3rd quarter grades.

We also have several activities and events taking place this month. First, our speech team will be competing at districts for a chance to qualify for state on March 5. In addition, our girls basketball team has qualified for the Nebraska State Basketball Tournament. They will play on Tuesday, March 8. The time has not yet been finalized but as soon as it is, we will send out a district call and text. Our fine arts program has also been working extremely hard to prepare for the musical, Annie. We have public performances scheduled for March 25 and March 26 at 7:00 p.m.

The community of Oakland is also working toward growing and offering more. We would like to invite you to a community planning meeting on March 1 at the Oakland Golf Club. We will offer a meal followed by a listening session. During this time we will break into small groups and discuss ideas for growing our community. All ideas are on the table and will be considered. A flyer is included at the bottom of the newsletter.

Strategic Planning Survey

The Board of Education is analyzing the progress we've made on our strategic plan and is in need of your help. You should have received an email from Tori Pierce that included a link to a survey. We ask that everyone completes that survey prior to March 7 so that we can determine what progress we've made and what we still need to work on as a district. Your responses will allow us to better prioritize the direction of the district. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to complete this survey!
