Principal Corner

Dear Smith Stallions,

It was another great week at T. G. Smith Elementary School! We hope you enjoy your long weekend with family and friends. There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 6, 2021. School will resume on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

A couple of reminders related to our school day:

  • Breakfast is served each morning in the cafeteria from 7:15 a.m. until 7:40 a.m. If your child would like to eat breakfast when they arrive at school, they need to be at school by 7:35 a.m. so that they can go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast.

  • If your child is a car rider in the afternoon, you will need to have a car tag with your student’s number on it. If you do not have a numbered car tag, please call the office at 479-750-8846 and we will make sure we get a tag made for afternoon pickup. If you do not have a number when you pick up your child, you will need to park and wait for the line to clear. This will be at approximately 3:20. Please work with your child on practicing to buckle and unbuckle themselves. We also ask that you not get out of your vehicle. We will assist your child if needed. Please try to arrive by 3:20 p.m. to pick up your child.

  • Please remember to send your child to school each morning with a mask. All students Kindergarten - 5th grade are required to wear a mask while inside the building with the exception of breakfast and lunch. Thank you for sending a mask with your child each day.

  • Student Information Sheets: Congratulations to the following classes for having 100% of their forms returned!

    • Mrs. Wilson’s Class

    • Mrs. McFetridge’s Class

    • Miss Pedersen’s Class

    • Mrs. Gavin’s Class

    • Ms. Lem’s Class

    • Mrs. Brooks’ Class

    • Mr. Van Lear’s Class

    • Please return your child’s Student Information Form as soon as possible.

  • Please label your child’s belongings such as lunchboxes, jackets, water bottles, etc. If an item is labeled, we will be able to return it to your child in their classroom.

As you know, safety is our #1 priority! We would love to have volunteers to help at the crosswalks to make sure students cross the street safely. We need help from 7:15-7:45 and 3:00-3:15. If you are able to assist at one of these times, please call the office or email Mrs. Simco at ksimco@sdale.org to let us know what days/times work best for you.

Update: We have a volunteer for Friday 7:15-7:45.
