A note about Lockdown Practice:

We have a lockdown practice coming up on Thursday. A lockdown is when there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. In a lockdown, we use classroom and school security actions to protect students and staff from a threat. When we have a drill or practice, we will always do so in an age-appropriate way that makes our students feel at ease. Our goal is to equip students with basic steps so they can successfully follow their teachers' directions during a drill or in an emergency.

Principal's Session offered at each time slot in the Cafeteria.

This is time to sit in the classroom while the teacher shares information in a presentation-style format. Each teacher offers 1 session. Teachers will share their classroom routines, learning topics, and how teachers and caregivers can partner to have a great year.

Principal/Asst Principals offer 3 sessions, all have the same content, including how to get involved at school, important school policies, topics of interest, and more.

This event is geared towards parents and caregivers. We hope you can attend this annual event. We appreciate your participation!

Send in your family photos!

We would love to see all our families represented on our Clayton Family Tree. Please send a family photo with your child to place in our basket in the foyer, outside the counseling office. We would love to see the diversity of our community reflected in our main hallway display. We are collecting photos through the months of August and September. Thank you!

What is Character Strong?

CharacterStrong's curriculum, including PurposeFull People for elementary students, helps children develop essential social-emotional skills like kindness, responsibility, and empathy alongside life skills such as focus, organization, and stress management. It aims to create a supportive learning environment where students feel a sense of belonging and are equipped to navigate challenges and build healthy relationships.

We’re excited to kick off the new school year by talking about Kindness. Our definition of Kindness is acting with understanding, generosity, and care. We believe developing skills around Kindness will help us build a strong foundation for a great year of learning, connecting, and growing together. Check out our Family Letter for more information about PurposeFull People and some fun ways you can join us in kicking off our most Kind year yet! Watch for monthly newsletters like this that outline the skills we are learning at school and provide fun ideas to grow as a family at home.
