The Bobcat Bulletin

Yes, I know... today is officially the last day of July, and calling this our "Mid-Summer Bobcat Bulletin" has become a bit of an annual tradition, even if we are stretching the definition of "mid-summer!" Somehow, the last day of July always feels like the perfect time to begin looking ahead to a wonderful new school year while still soaking up everything that makes summer special.
This edition of the Bobcat Bulletin includes important save-the-date information for the 2026β2027 school year. While it does not include every event on our calendar, it highlights many of the dates families like to plan around. Final details for field trips, and a few other events are still being finalized and will be shared as soon as they are confirmed. A special thank you to our PTG for partnering with us as we plan another exciting year. Please note that all dates are subject to change if necessary.
Important Updates & Things to Keep on Your Radar:
HVAC Project Update: Our HVAC project is moving along nicely! We are so excited to have air conditioning coming to our building for this school year!!
Membership Toolkit: Membership Toolkit continues to be our primary hub for the student directory. Information on how to sign up, update your family account, and set your preferences will be available during both Open House and Back-to-School Night. You can also download the Membership Toolkit app on your mobile device for easy access on the go!
Classroom Assignments: We cannot wait to welcome our Bobcats back, and our teachers are excited to meet their new students. On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 19th, you will receive an email from your child's classroom teacher introducing themselves and sharing your child's classroom assignment.
Open House (Thursday, August 27th): This is a wonderful opportunity to walk through the building, meet your child's teacher, and get set up with Membership Toolkit. If your family will be away on vacation, please do not worry. Teachers will reach out before the first day of school to introduce themselves and share important classroom information. Families will also have the opportunity to visit classrooms during Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 8th.
Volunteer Opportunities: Interested in serving as a Homeroom Parent or Guardian Representative? Information about these volunteer opportunities will be shared during Open House. These volunteers help organize classroom celebrations and support special events throughout the year. Please remember that all volunteers must have current clearances on file, and younger siblings may not attend classroom volunteer events.
Principal's Advisory Board (PAB): PAB will continue this school year. PAB members will be contacted to confirm their interest in returning. If openings become available, additional information about joining PAB will be shared in a future Bobcat Bulletin.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. Enjoy these final weeks of summer, make lasting memories, and take time to relax before another wonderful school year begins. I cannot wait to welcome our Bobcats back on Monday, August 31st for an amazing 2026β2027 school year!
With Bobcat pride,
Michelle Britton

Open House Information!
We are excited to welcome our Bobcat families back for the 2026β2027 school year! Open House is a wonderful opportunity for students and families to meet teachers, visit classrooms, reconnect with friends, and get ready for an exciting year at Indian Lane. Whether your child is joining us for the very first time or returning for another year, we look forward to welcoming you!
Kindergarten Families
Kindergarten families will attend one of two Open House sessions:
- AM Kindergarten: 9:00β9:55 AM
- PM Kindergarten: 10:00β10:55 AM
Each session will begin with a welcome presentation in the cafeteria followed by a guided tour of the building. Families will visit important locations including the nurse's office, main office, school counselor office, library, arrival and dismissal areas, the playground, and finally their child's classroom.
New Families (Grades 1β5)
Families who are new to Indian Lane are invited to join us beginning at 12:15 PM for a special New Family Welcome. The afternoon includes check-in, a welcome presentation, staff introductions, and a guided tour of the building before concluding in your child's classroom. This is a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with our school, meet members of our staff, and learn more about life at Indian Lane.
To make the transition from the New Family Welcome to Open House as seamless as possible, new families will be pre-registered for classroom visit times before the SignUpGenius is shared with returning families. There is no need to worry about securing a time slot. If you have more than one child attending Indian Lane, we will reserve consecutive classroom visit times (for example, 1:00 PM and 1:20 PM) so you can move directly from the New Family Welcome to each child's classroom without feeling rushed. You will receive your family's assigned classroom visit time(s) when the SignUpGenius link is shared on Wednesday, August 19.
Returning Families (Grades 1β5)
Returning families will attend Open House between 1:00 PM and 2:40 PM. Classroom visit time slots are:
- 1:00β1:20 PM
- 1:20β1:40 PM
- 1:40β2:00 PM
- 2:00β2:20 PM
- 2:20β2:40 PM
Returning families will receive a SignUpGenius link on Wednesday, August 19, to select the classroom visit time that works best for their family. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher, explore the classroom, drop off school supplies, and learn more about the exciting year ahead.
We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to Indian Lane and begin another wonderful year together. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, August 27!
Where is Mrs. Britton?
Beginning August 1st and continuing through Open House on August 27, keep your eyes open. If you happen to run into Mrs. Britton around the Media area, she may pull on her red-and-white striped, Waldo-inspired shirt for a quick photo!
Snap a picture together and send it in, and you will be featured in the September Bobcat Bulletin.
Why all the mystery?
Everything is leading up to one big question:
Where will Mrs. Britton be at the PTG Block Party?
Welcome New Families to Indian Lane
The Indian Lane Parent-Teacher Group (PTG) is excited to welcome all of our new students and incoming kindergarten families to the Bobcat community! Starting at a new school is a special milestone, and we want your family to experience the warmth, kindness, and sense of belonging that make Indian Lane such a wonderful place to learn and grow.
As a small way of saying, "Welcome to the Bobcat Family!", our PTG volunteers would love to deliver a special welcome gift to your child before the school year begins.
If you would like to participate, please complete the attached Google Form to let us know if we may share your family's address with our PTG volunteers for this one-time welcome delivery.
We cannot wait to meet your family, welcome you to Indian Lane, and begin what we hope will be an amazing school year together. Welcome to the Bobcat family
Kindergarten Dash
All Kindergarten students are invited to join us for our annual "KINDERGARTEN DASH". Sponsored by the Penncrest Athletic Boosters, this is our way to welcome our Future Penncrest Lions to the RTMSD... they will be the Class of 2039!
Kindergarten participants will line up together and run the length of the turf field together before our 7 pm home football game on Thursday September 3rd vs. Strath Haven! All Kindergarten participants will receive a "Future LION" t-shirt they can wear for the event.
Kindergarten families should arrive at 6:15 pm and meet on the track at 6:30 pm (near the scoreboard end of the field). The dash will be held at 6:40 pm. Students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run, to allow the football team time to warm up. This is NOT a drop-off event. We ask only one parent/guardian on the field with your kindergarten student (no siblings).
Football game admission is $5/adult (ages 12 and older). Cash only -- please try to have exact change. Note: Referred to as the "Media Bowl", this game typically draws a large crowd so please plan to arrive early as parking may be limited. (Due to the holiday weekend, there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday September 4th.)
We are also looking for volunteers for the event: Kindergarten Dash Volunteers 2026.
For any questions, please contact penncrestathleticboosters@gmail.com.
