Boyden Weekly Update

June 12, 2026

BoydenWeekly UpdateJune 12, 2026
Dear Boyden Families,

We finished up our Spring Concerts this week with Grade 4 and Grade 5 students performing. Directed by Mrs. Cassani, the students were able to showcase all of their hard work throughout the school year. Thank you to Mrs. Cassani for making all the concerts a huge success.

Today was Field Day, and it was a success! Thank you to Mr. Colardo who organized another amazing day for the students with field games, water games, gym games, dancing and more. It can not be a succesful day without all of the volunteers. Thank you to the many families who helped make this a great day.

Have a nice weekend!

Brendan

REMINDER: Early release, Tuesday June 16th

Due to significant and unusual traffic congestion experienced across town during a recent World Cup event, which impacted school dismissal and transportation, June 16 has been designated as an early release day for all students. There will be no extended day on the afternoon of June 16. In coordination with the Police Department, all schools will dismiss at their regular early dismissal times. This adjustment reflects the unique scale of this international event and is not representative of typical stadium-related activities. The Police Department will increase patrols and monitor areas where students may gather, and principals will communicate with families to help discourage congregating in already congested areas throughout town.

Important Reminder: Library Books Due

To help us get our shelves ready for next fall, please help your student return any library books. Emails have been sent to families with students who still have books checked out. Currently we have 58 book still out :( We really need your help decreasing that number. Please email Mrs. Moses at kmoses@walpole.k12.ma.us if you have any questions.

Walpole High School Summer Construction Closure

Due to extensive construction, renovation, and paving projects taking place at Walpole High School this summer, the entire campus will be closed to the public from June 29 through August 20.

During this period, there will be no public access to any part of the high school property, including:

  • The high school buildings
  • Athletic fields and grounds
  • The track
  • Tennis courts

For safety and security reasons, fencing will be installed along Common Street, and signage will be posted throughout the site.

Please note that the Walpole High School administrative offices will temporarily operate out of Walpole Middle School during the closure. In addition, Summer School programs will be administered at Walpole Middle School.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these important improvements to our facilities and look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus in August.

Summer Math Information

With summer break right around the corner, we wanted to share some ideas for how to keep those young mathematicians’ brains active throughout the summer. We have a whole section of our Family Math Site dedicated to activities and games your students can access to keep their minds engaged and math skills sharp. While we do not require students to complete any specific task, (with the exception of the rising sixth graders) we do encourage them to engage their mathematical brain for 60-90 minutes a week on activities of their choice. If you scroll to the bottom of the web page, there are also printable packets for each grade level if that is what your child enjoys.

We want our Walpole students to have a wonderful summer, but we also want them to retain the concepts and skills they developed throughout the year around math! We hope you all find time to relax and recharge over the summer while staying active and engaged in your choice of fun learning activities.

Media/STEM Update

As the school year winds down, I want to say thank you. We have had an incredible year coding, engineering, and enjoying amazing stories.

Grades 4 & 5: Students had a blast using Makey-Makey kits to learn about circuits. They spent time exploring different materials to determine if they were conductors or insulators, built closed circuits, and even engineered their own cardboard directional pads to play a soccer video game. 5th grade is ending the year creating roller coasters and 4th grade will be creating catapults.

Grade 3: Our third graders are finished up their Career Book Creator project. Students researched a career that interested them using PebbleGo or the PBS Career Lab and transferred their knowledge into a digital report. They are currently coding a robot of their choice to travel through some favorite 3rd grade memories.

Grades K–2: Our youngest students are crossing the finish line with Indi cars! They are practicing their coding and sequencing skills by programming these robotic cars using color-coded tiles.
