LEVY INFORMATION
Remember to vote! Replacement levy (Proposition 9) on the April 22 ballot
Ballots are in the mail and should arrive in mailboxes by April 4. On your ballot is a replacement education and operations levy for Battle Ground Public Schools. Local levy funding makes up the difference between state funding and the real-world cost to educate students. For instance, at our school the levy funds:
Special education
Technology support
Custodial services
Multilingual support
Safety
Curriculum
Teachers
Class sizes
Busing
Mental health support
Maintenance/grounds
Health/nursing and more
The replacement levy would allow the district to continue current service levels beyond 2025, when the existing education and operations levy expires. Please take the time to look over our levy information page, and consider attending one of two upcoming public forums to learn more about the levy. The first of those meetings will be on Tuesday, April 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lewisville campus (406 NW 5th Ave., Battle Ground). The second is Wednesday, April 16, at Prairie High School in the media center. Childcare and light refreshments will be provided.
Remember to return your ballot by April 22. Track your ballot and see if it was counted at VoteWA.gov.
BGPS BOARD SELECTS SHELLY WHITTEN AS NEXT SUPERINTENDENT
The Battle Ground Public Schools board of directors voted to appoint Shelly Whitten to be the next superintendent of the district. Whitten, the district’s current deputy superintendent, will begin her new role on July 1, 2025. She will replace current Superintendent Denny Waters, who is retiring.
”It is an honor to serve the community I grew up in and love,” said Whitten, “There’s no place I’d rather invest my passion and energy.”
2 HOUR LATE START
On April 9th, 2025 we have a 2 hour late start. Please keep in mind that school will start at 11:10. There will be no breakfast that day.
WE VALUE YOUR INPUT
Understanding the perspectives of the people who make up Battle Ground Public Schools is important as we continue working toward improvement. This month, you and your family have an opportunity to share their thoughts in an optional survey administered by the Center for Educational Effectiveness.
All parents and guardians will receive the survey via email on April 8. Students in fifth through 12th grades also will receive the survey, unless a parent or guardian opted them out in the annual student update. The surveys will close on May 2. Learn more.

Their thoughtful gestures and creativity brought smiles and gratitude to those who work so hard for our school. The surprise was a huge success and a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. A big thank you to our students for spreading positivity and appreciation!

TUKES VALLEY STORE
Available for purchase now until April 8th, 2025
The store is a daily class at the Middle School and is made up of 7th and 8th grade students who have taken the STEM classes. The students originally designed an articulating wolf based off of our Timberwolf mascot. From the original wolf, the students began designing and creating wolves based on the holidays throughout the year. In December, they received new multi-color 3D printers, which have significantly improved the quality of the 3D products we are selling. Since December, the class has been learning the new technology and reformatting their files to work with the new printers. Students are not only learning valuable STEM and design skills but also applying them in a real-world setting with product creation and sales.
If you are interested in purchasing a Mini Easter Flexiwolve from our store please see the information on the flyer or scan the QR code(extra fees applied for online). Order forms are available in the TVP office. Thanks for supporting our students, our store, and the Tukes Valley schools!
