HSSL Weekly Parent Update

The Deadline for prom deposits are 6 days away! The desposit for prom is $100 due Wednesday May 31st. Deposits can be paid to Ms. Lewis 7th period (12:47pm-1:32pm) in room 1E8.

Student Application is now open for CTE, FutureReadyNYC, and select CRMYA schools’ students to apply for the Summer Internship cycle! This program prioritizes seniors and juniors with paid work experience over a six-week period from July 10th to August 18th (total 150 hours).

• Share this program flyer with students and families. Please remind students that this is a commitment for the full period of July 10-August 18th. Students who will attend summer school, are enrolled in CareerReady SYEP, or will otherwise not be available in July or early August should not apply for Summer Industry Scholars Program.
• Students must complete their application on Career Pathways Portal; deadline is May 30th.

The Brooklyn Association of Teen Educators (BATES) network is thrilled to announce the return of their 29th Annual Youth Conference and Theatre on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Since the premier of this event, it has become a staple for youth all throughout New York City and now, after the disruptions of the pandemic, they are finally back in person at the wonderful SUNY Downstate Campus. This conference provides the opportunity for youth to be educated and empowered. This year, more than any other year, the BATES Network worked vigorously to bring their dynamic youth conference to everyone so they can continue to provide much needed and necessary youth engagement. On Saturday, June 3rd from 9am to 1pm, FACE will host a citywide family and community resource fair at Murry Bergtraum High School. Our goal for this event is to create a safe and connected space for all NYCPS families by offering access to community-based organizations, health and wellness organizations, education and family advocates, NYC agencies, cultural institutions, etc.

Decision Day/ College signing day is Thursday May 25th at 12pm in the school auditorium. All senior families are welcome to attend.
