The Little Judges Ledger
August 24-28, 2026
Dear Virginia Avenue Families,
We had a fantastic first FULL week of school! Our Little Judges are settling into their routines, working hard, and showing us what it means to be safe, kind, and responsible. We have been so impressed by the effort our students are putting into their learning and the great choices we are seeing throughout the building. We are off to a wonderful start!
π§ Keep It Up, Little Judges!
Our Kona Ice Attendance Challenge is still going strong! We had attendance in the mid-to-upper 90% range on Thursday and Fridayβway to show up, Little Judges!
Every day at school gives students another opportunity to learn, practice new skills, connect with their classmates, and Keep Climbing toward their goals. Let's keep that attendance strong!
π± Need to Report an Absence?
We know there will be times when a student needs to miss school. When that happens, please remember to report your child's absence through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Reporting an absence lets us know why your child is not at school, but does not automatically make an absence excused.
Whenever possible, please help us protect instructional time by scheduling appointments, vacations, and other activities around the school calendar.
π Safety Drill β Thursday
We will hold our first lockdown drill on Thursday. Just like fire drills, practicing helps students and staff know what to do and respond calmly in an emergency.
Help us prepare your child by reminding them:
- π A drill is just practice so we know how to stay safe.
- π Listen carefully to your teacher and follow directions.
- π€« Stay quiet and calm so everyone can hear important instructions.
- π« Stay with your class until your teacher says it is time to move.
- π¬ It's okay to ask questions or talk to an adult if the drill makes you feel worried.
For our youngest students, a simple reminder that βWe practice different ways to stay safe at schoolβ is all they need. Pre-K and Kindergarten do not participate in the first drill of the year.
π Our First Spirit Day!
Get ready to show some Little Judge spirit! Our first Spirit Day of the year is this Friday: Favorite Color Day!
π΄π π‘π’π΅π£
Pick your favorite color and wear as much of it as you can from head to toe! Shirts, pants, socks, shoes, hair accessoriesβthe more of your favorite color, the better!
We can't wait to see Virginia Avenue filled with color on Friday! π
Another great week is ahead! Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Letβs keep learning, growing, and climbing together! ποΈ

π School to Home
1. Think of someone you look up to- what's one thing that they do that you want to be able to do too?
2. Is there someone in your class that is really kind? What do they do that shows kindness?
3. What's something a family member does that you hope to do when you're older?
