Walteria Elementary invites families to celebrate "Read Across America Day" on Friday, February 28th, 2025, from 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM. Parents, grandparents, and loved ones are encouraged to join their children for a special picnic lunch and reading time. The event includes a welcome and PTA meeting (11:45 AM-noon) followed by the picnic (noon-1:15 PM). All visitors must be able to show ID at the gate. Bring a blanket, a book to share, and lunch for you and your child. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open. We hope to see you there!

Get ready for an exciting opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit! Torrance Unified School District is hosting a Student Maker Faire & Innovation Festival on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at El Camino College. This fantastic event will allow students to display and even sell their own creations, from art and crafts to engineering projects, music, food, science experiments, and technological inventions – the possibilities are endless! Booths will be open from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. This is a wonderful chance for our kids to share their talents with the community. If your child is interested in having their own booth to sell their products, please be sure to submit an application by February 28th, 2025. Kindergarten enrollment Dates of Birth are 09/02/2019 to 09/01/2020

Transitional Kindergarten is for students with Dates of Birth 09/02/2020 to 09/01/2021

If your child is currently enrolled in a TUSD TK class, you do not need to re-enroll your child for Kindergarten.

Walteria TK/K Tours dates are below. They are from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Active Parenting Coparenting Series free to families with children ages 5-12

Sponsored by Torrance Memorial Medical Center and coordinated by the Walteria PTA, the HEA program encourages healthy eating and active lifestyles for our students. Lessons 1 and 2 were completed in Oct-Dec 2024. We have two lessons remaining. The lesson videos for lesson 3 and 4 that students will see with their classroom can be found HERE. Lesson 3 will be delivered the week of February 3 and Lesson 4 will be delivered the week of March 10. All lessons are designed by a Registered Dietitian, and HEA has been helping students make healthier choices since 2012! Parents - We appreciate your support and hope that you review the link and have conversations with your children about healthy eating habits!

Opt-out option:
If you do not want your child to receive the provided snacks for lessons 3 and 4, please complete the attached opt-out form and submit it to your child’s teacher by January 24.
