We hope you all had a nice 3 day weekend!!

Students- With just one week of classes left and then finals week, please check in with your teachers about any missing work or final projects. Your hard work and time will pay off!!

We will continue Falcon Hour this week!

IF a student is short the 5 full credits in their graduation requirements, we will have a summer program online to remediate classes. Here is general information and the counselors will be connecting with students & parents/ guardians very soon if needed.

Summer School

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE APPROVED BY AND PROCESSED THROUGH PUSD COUNSELORS.

Accelerate is a self-paced, online credit remediation program provided through Piedmont Unified School District. All work will be done virtually. The teachers act as facilitators that assist with the technical/operational side, monitor student progress, and proctor exams. No direct teaching occurs. Students study the material, take the incremental assessments, complete module exams, and take a semester final as independent learners. Virtual meetings can be scheduled as needed if the student needs additional support. Students may enroll in up to 10 credits over the summer through this program.

For students new to accelerate online learning, or students who need to update their login information: There will be a mandatory orientation online- date and time TBD. Parents are welcome to attend, though their presence is not required. Students unable to attend must contact the coordinators for information and access login credentials.

Who is eligible?

An MHS student who has earned a D or F grade in a PHS or MHS course must speak with their Academic Counselor and be approved for the program to enroll.

Required items:

  1. Access to high speed internet

  2. A computer.

April Rovero of the National Coalition of Prescription Drug Abuse and the Naloxone Distribution Project will join the Piedmont Unified School District Nurses for an important discussion regarding prescription/illicit drug use and abuse, fentanyl awareness, and how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Overdose rescue training utilizing the opioid-antagonist naloxone will be provided, and free naloxone will be given to adults at the conclusion of the training.

All community members welcome: please bring your middle and high school students, and learn about the dangers of fentanyl and how to possibly save a life.

Cell Phone Task Force Update Cell Phone Task Force Update

zoom_out_map

On March 12, the Board heard the presentation from the District's Cell Phone Task Force. The Board considered 3 options:

  • Option 1: No PCD's during instructional time
  • Option 2: No PCD's except at lunch
  • Option 3: No PCD's bell-to-bell (all-day)

PCD: Personal Connect Device--any device that can send/receive data. This broadly includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, tablets, watches, glasses, and headphones/earbuds.

The Board provided direction to implement option 2 for the 2025-26 school year. The Board is also interested in movement towards Option 3 with continued discussion and follow-up next school year. The Cell Phone Task Force will reconvene in the fall to continue this important work.

The Board will adopt policy pursuant to this by June 30. The school will provide much more information as we develop guidelines, update handbooks, signage, and presentations to our student and parent community between now and the start of next school year.

Thank you to all the Task Force members who participated in the meetings and those that attended to the Board presentation.
