Principal's Message

Hello CRS School Community!

December has arrived! The weather is becoming increasingly wintry, and the holiday season is around the corner!

Two weeks of learning remain before the holidays arrive, and students and staff are working hard to complete learning outcomes before the break, as well as beginning to incorporate holiday themes into classroom activities and learning experiences. As always, Art and Music classes are two areas where the festive season becomes especially visible at this time of the year. Christmas and winter art projects are beginning to decorate our hallways, and we're starting to hear traditional Christmas Carols and other popular holiday songs being sung and played with bells and boomwhackers! It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at CRS!

On that note, the fourth annual CRS Christmas Activity Night is upcoming on Wednesday, December 17th. We are trying out an earlier time for the event this year, but we anticipate that it will still be a great opportunity for families to come together as a school community and to engage in traditional Christmastime activities. Many families have already responded to the RSVP form to let us know they plan to be at the event, and there is still time to add your family to the list by filling out the short form at: https://forms.gle/WiSekvJ7T1ujWDZW8

It's very helpful for us to know how many people to expect at the Christmas activity night, and the RSVP helps us to plan for the correct number of snacks and crafts. However, even if you are not able to RSVP, please consider stopping by between 3:30 and 5:00 pm to enjoy a late afternoon of camaraderie and fun. Currently, the forecast is for excellent weather, so we are looking forward to an enjoyable event and hope to see you there!

Yours in Education,

Reid Lansing

As Mrs. MacKay and Mrs. Beck are job sharing and have days that we won't be in the office, if you are emailing about daily attendance absences, please use this email instead to allow for both admin assistants to see the message: chesterronning-aa@brsd.ab.ca

Thank you for your support!

I would like to take this opportunity and thank everyone for your support of the Scholastic Book Fair fundraiser for new books for the Learning Commons. We are receiving just over $3,000 worth of new books. You all make a difference in our school community!

With parent volunteers, it makes our book fair a great success. A Big Thank You to our parents and community volunteers: Greg King, Michelle MacLeod, Michelle Ratelle, Diana Huta, Anne Nederlof, Amanda Nguyen, Alex Erickson, Katie Cossey, Patsy Yurkoski, and nine of our Grade 5J students with setup. Thank you to our staff volunteers on family night, Mrs. Lunty, Mrs.Coltman, Mrs. Kroetch.

I would also like to thank several community members for their donations towards books.

I know the students are excited about getting new books in the Learning Commons.

The last week to take out library books before the Christmas break will be Dec. 8-12. All library books will need to be returned before the Christmas break please.

Grade 4/5 Piano Club

What is piano club? It is a time on Fridays during lunch recess for any Gr.4/5 student who enjoys piano. Students can share pieces and listen to others play, and anyone who wants to learn more about piano is welcome. Some of our pianists will be also sharing music with the school during our carolling time during the last week of school! Students can talk to Mme Lunty if they have any questions.
