A Message From the Principal A Message From the Principal

Good afternoon,

As we head into Spring Break, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their dedication and hard work this season. This is a well-deserved time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time away from school. Whether you're traveling or relaxing at home, I hope your break is refreshing and joyful. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, March 31, ready for a strong finish to the school year. Have a safe and wonderful Spring Break!

Morning Announcements - March 31 - April 4

As we return from Spring Break, students will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) on April 2, 3, and 4. Students will need to be prepared with a charged Chromebook, pencils, a book to read when finished with the assessment, and wired headphones. Students will not be able to use Bluetooth headphones for testing security. If students need a pair of wired headphones, they are available for purchase in the MS Den for $1-2.

Warm Regards,

Emily Loerakker

Fremont MS Principal

Illinois Assessment of Readiness Illinois Assessment of Readiness

Fremont School District 79 students in grades 3-8 will be participating in the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) during the month of April. The Illinois State Board of Education requires that all students in grades 3-8 take the IAR.

The IAR is fully aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for English language arts and math and is taken online. Our students are scheduled to test between April 2nd and April 10th. More specific testing dates and times will be provided by your building principal(s).

You can help your child do their best on the test by:

  • Making sure that your child attends school on the days of testing, if possible;

  • Making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing;

  • Providing breakfast on the mornings of testing;

  • Letting your child know that you have confidence in their ability; and

  • Advising your child not to worry about the test and to do the best that they can.

We will be reviewing and sharing the IAR assessment results with you when they become available. We appreciate being partners in the education of your child.

Sincerely,

Brian Bullis, Ed.D.

Assistant Superintendent of Learning

New Lunch Menus Website New Lunch Menus Website

Fremont School District menus are now available with real-time updates as well as complete lists of all allergens and nutritional information through Quest Food Management's partner website at FDMealPlanner.com. When you access the website, you will simply enter "Fremont" in the Search field and click your student's corresponding school for a complete list of all items served for the daily meal for the month as well as any other sides and accompaniments.

With FDMealPlanner, you may view a condensed menu including the daily special offering, or by toggle, view the entire Quest offerings for the whole day in your student's school. Any menu changes from week to week will also appear daily on this portal. You may also build menus for your student to participate in to exclude certain allergens.

Ivanhoe Village Update Ivanhoe Village Update

In our ongoing commitment to transparency with our community regarding the Ivanhoe Village development, we wanted to provide you with the following update. At the most recent negotiation meeting between FSD79, Mundelein High School District 120, and the developers of Ivanhoe Village, the developers presented updated housing data that differed from the February 2024 SB Friedman report. Officials from the school districts are reviewing the new data with their consultants to try to determine the impact. For more information, please view a recap of the March 17 meeting of the Fremont Board of Education.

While the school districts remain committed to working with the developer to close significant financial gaps, the stark contrast between positions raises legitimate concerns about the feasibility of this project without imposing an undue tax burden or negatively impacting education quality.

The next meeting of the Village of Mundelein Board of Trustees is next Monday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall.

The time is here to sign up for two out of the five summer school programs that Fremont School District is offering this summer!

1- Summer Adventures in Learning (sign up here) consists of one-week interest-based enrichment courses led by Fremont staff! There are two time-sessions each day, which allows you to sign up for two classes per week. Classes may fill up, or need to be canceled, so you will be able to indicate a first and second choice for each of the six class periods between June 9th and June 27th. This is also the form to sign up for bus transportation. There are no mid-session bus routes, so anyone signing up for only one class per week will need to provide transportation.

2- Summer Boost (sign up here) is an asynchronous continuation of student learning online. All students will have access to online learning tools used throughout the school year, but signing up for Summer Boost connects your child with a teacher who will help to monitor their online progress, offer encouragement, and provide optional office hours.

3- Summer Scholars, 4- Extended School Year, and 5- Multilingual, are all programs that are invitation-only. You should be hearing from teachers and case managers soon if your child is invited to attend this summer. These three programs offer tailored assistance with Math and Reading, in-person from June 6th-June 27th.

Please reach out to Alana Davidov, adavidov@fsd79.org, Fremont Intermediate School Assistant Principal, for help or questions!

Early Pick-Up Procedures Early Pick-Up Procedures

If your student needs to be picked up early, please notify our main office at 847-566-9384 or send an email to the receptionist, Karolina O'Malley, at komalley@fsd79.org. Please note that the latest pickup time is 2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 1:30 PM on Wednesday. Parents cannot park in handicapped parking spots near the gym as it interferes with bus pick up.

If your child will be absent from school because of illness, doctors appointments, vacation, or for any other reason, please call 847-566-9384 and select option 2 to report it to the school office by 8:00 a.m. the day of the absence. Keeping track of all the students on a daily basis is a huge task, and we greatly appreciate prompt notification of any absence.
