Principal's Message
It was a very filled first week of May at Parkland, and our students continued to enjoy the beautiful weather outside. On Monday, we celebrated our incredible Bus Drivers with small tokens of appreciation as well as a bit of a show (special thanks to Mrs. Dickson and Mr. Dye for sharing the joy!). We were joined by Director of Transportation Services, Christine Van Neck and Manager of Communications Services, Nikki Gilks, as they gave out their own tokens! In addition, Wednesday was "Hats on for Mental Health" and our staff and many of our students adorned their best hats to commemorate the day!
We are SOOOO incredibly excited for this upcoming Wednesday, May 13th, as we will be hosting our Annual Career Fair and Open House! From 12pm - 3pm, students will have the opportunity to engage with community partners and see exciting local career opportunities in various fields. From 3pm - 6pm, the Career Fair opens up to the wider public AND we will be running an Open House at Parkland, complete with a live musical performance, popcorn, treats, guided tours, and prizes! Be sure to pop by to check out this incredible event!
The Exam Schedule for May/June (Semester 2) is formally released and is shared below. Please take note of when your Pacer has exams to wrap up the year. Grade 9's, the Part A of your English PAT will be coming up soon in May, so please review these at your earliest convenience. Please note that students are required to attend their scheduled exams and all regular classes until exam week. Best exam preparation practice includes starting early with review and connecting with your teachers if you need any additional help preparing for your exams. Don't forget, we run Study Hall every day at Lunch (with either Andersen or Bencz, depending on the day)!

I was fortunate to spend time with some pretty incredible moms over the weekend and got to get my garden situated for the summer! Extra snuggles with my littlest niece were also a highlight.

A HUGE congratulations is in order for the Parkland Envirothon team, who represented PCHS at Envirothon Provincials this past week. Our Pacers ended up receiving 1st in the Forestry Category (a first for PCHS) and 3rd Overall for their presentation! Thank you Mrs. Vick for your dedication to this program and job well done to Pacers Morgan S., Zoey L., Bryce R., Owen P., and Tate P.!!!
Pacers in the Community
From May 4th - 20th, 2026, Edson LEAP is hosting their "Many Minds, One Gallery" exhibit at the Red Brick Arts Centre, featuring works of art by neurodivergent children, youth, and adults in our community. On Saturday, they had a "Meet the Creator" day where the artists were on site for their exhibits. It was exciting to see two of our own Pacers with art featured - Andrew G. and Lucas W. - as well as a future Pacer - Lily R.! Check out their samples of work below. Fantastic work by all!
