A Message From Dr. Euker
February has certainly made its presence known this year. Snow-covered mornings, schedule adjustments, and bundled-up students arriving with rosy cheeks have become part of our recent rhythm. While winter brings its share of challenges, it also offers moments of pause — a chance to slow down, reset, and appreciate the warmth of our community.
Even on the coldest days, our school remains full of energy and purpose. Classrooms are alive with discussion, creativity, and collaboration. Students continue to show resilience and focus, and our staff remains deeply committed to supporting them every step of the way. Methacton has an amazing community.
Thank you for your continued partnership during these winter weeks. Your support — from helping students manage the cold mornings to encouraging them to stay engaged and positive — makes a meaningful difference. Together, we will move through this snowy stretch and into brighter days ahead.
Wishing your family warmth, safety, and a little extra sunshine wherever you can find it.
Speaking of Warmer Weather
Last School Day: Friday June 12, 2026
The snow day will not affect the last student day. It will remain June 12, 2026
Religious Holiday Accomodations
As we enter into the late winter/ early spring holiday season, we may have some students in need of an accommodation for observing a religious holiday at school. Ramadan is celebrated from the evening of February 17 to March 19, 2026. Passover and Lent are other holidays that may involve temporary accommodation; Lent is February 18 to April 12, 2026; Passover is April 1- April 9, 2026. If students observe any of the holidays and are in need of accommodations, they should notify their counselor immediately so we can accommodate your child.
Message from Dr. Zerbe
February 17, 2026
We have received reports that a group of high school students are planning a walkout demonstration in response to recent immigration-related events. To our knowledge, this walkout is currently scheduled to take place during the school day on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. This demonstration is student-initiated and not organized, approved, or supported by Methacton School District. Should this walkout occur, the district will take appropriate steps to ensure student safety, including having building administrators and security personnel present to supervise students.
While we respect the importance of student voice, actions that violate school rules - such as disrupting the learning environment - will result in a half-hour detention (served after school between 2:20PM-2:50PM or during a scheduled lunch period). Students will be provided notice of disciplinary consequences should they take part in a walkout during the school day. For students who do not participate in the demonstration, instruction will continue as scheduled.
We encourage families to speak with their children about the potential consequences of this event and how to voice their views respectfully and thoughtfully. Our primary focus remains maintaining a safe, supportive, and focused learning environment where all students can learn and succeed. We are committed to ensuring our schools remain safe and welcoming for every student. If your child needs additional support, please contact your child’s school counselor.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. David Zerbe
Superintendent
New Attendance Procedure
Important Notice Regarding Student Attendance Reporting
Methacton School District is updating its attendance reporting procedures. Beginning March 2, 2026, emails will no longer be accepted as an approved form of attendance reporting. Any attempt to email will result in an automated response to use one of the two acceptable methods below.
Approved Methods for Reporting an Absence, Late Arrival or Early Departure as of March 2:
1. NEW – Power School Attendance Monitor: Parents/Guardians are encouraged to report an absence, tardy, or early departure online through a new feature within the Power School Parent Portal. This method, which will be made available March 2, is a one-step method that provides notification to the school and fulfills the parent/guardian physical note requirement.
2. Phone Call: Parents/Guardians may still call the Attendance Secretary to report an absence, tardy or early departure. However, this will require a physical note from the parent/guardian within three (3) days of the absence.
We will share additional details about how to utilize the attendance reporting feature in the Power School Parent Portal in the near future. For more information, visit Methacton.org/attendance.
