Frontier Parent Newsletter
End of the Year News
Note From Miss Rutan:
May has arrived, marking the final stretch of the school year filled with excitement and achievement. Amidst our bustling schedule, our students have demonstrated remarkable dedication during our testing window. We're thrilled with the exceptional performance of our 3rd-5th graders on their ELA and Math ISAT tests, showcasing their incredible progress. As we wrap up our iReady diagnostics, we eagerly anticipate the results to see just how much each of our students has grown over the year. State tests for our primary grades will be on May 14th and 15th, guided by our testing theme, "Mission Possible," which our students are fulfilling with excellence. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible community for the overwhelming support shown through our Jog-a-thon fundraiser, raising over $15,000—ten times more than our Fall Fundraiser. This generosity empowers us to envision exciting enhancements for our school. Join us in exploring the upcoming events and opportunities detailed in the rest of this newsletter. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication.
If you have any questions, or concerns please contact me at rutan.katie@westada.org or by phone at (208) 350-4190.
Sincerely,
Katie Rutan
Principal

We are always looking for volunteers to come in and help our students during the week. If you are interested in helping, you can email Mrs. Knam at knam.carolyn@westada.org.

Breakfast and Lunch Program Ending Next Year!
For the past decade, Frontier has been very fortunate to have received a state grant that provided free breakfast and lunch for all students attending. Every five years, the grant is revisited and for the upcoming school year, Frontier no longer applies for this benefit. Starting in the fall, all breakfasts and lunches will be charged to a student account. Since we have always had the program, many of our families have not needed to fill out any applications for Free or Reduced lunch costs. Starting August 1st, the application for the upcoming school year will be available. The school will send out notices to remind any of our families wishing to apply and seek this assistanceto complete the form before school starts.
Talking with your students about the change will be very important, ESPECIALLY when it comes to receiving breakfast. So many of our students come to eat breakfast and many of them eat a second breakfast at school, even after you have fed them at home. Be sure to communicate with your children that breakfast and lunch will cost and if you do not choose to have them eat at school, they will need that information coming from you. As a school, we do not turn away any student who comes through the line. I will keep an eye on any charges and communicate with families as the year starts to be sure that no large amounts are accrued on the account.
Medication Pick-Up
As the year wraps up please be sure to make arrangements to pick up any medication you have stored at the school in the nurse's office.
Final PTO Meeting
Our final meeting is May 6th @ 4:00 in Room 15 (The library will be having the book fair)

CAN We Stock the Shelves - Canned Food Drive
Preparing for the summer break, our local food banks often need canned food for their shelves to supply for the summer time. We are so grateful for the Meridian Food Bank and Covenant Presbyterian Church for all that they provide for our Frontier Families throughout the school year. We receive weekly bags of food for the weekend for several families from the Meridian Food Bank. Covenant Presbyterian Church has provided boxes of food for families over our Christmas and Spring Breaks. To show our appreciation and allow our students the opportunity to give back to the community, we will be hosting a canned food drive the week of May 13-17th.

Parking Lot Procedures
* Please remain in your vehicle during pick up and drop off. If your child needs assistance, please park and walk them to the sidewalk. This helps keep the line moving for all of our families.
*If a staff member is waving you ahead, please pull forward to allow more cars up to the front drop off and pick up area.
*Children enter at the front of the parking lot and not on the sides, this is for safety. We have numbered signs to help efficiently have students ready for when their parents' car pulls up.
