Wrapping Up Our First 3 Weeks
Dear RFMS Families,
This week marks the close of our first three weeks of school, which means progress reports are on the way. These reports give a quick snapshot of how students are doing so far. Please remember, this is just an early check-in—an opportunity for students to make sure everything is turned in and on track.
Progress Reports
-
First 3-week progress reports will be sent home soon.
-
This is a great time for families to sit down with students, celebrate successes, and set small goals for improvement if needed.
No School Monday
We hope you enjoy a long three-day weekend as we celebrate Labor Day on Monday.
MAP Testing Next Week
Next week, students will take their Beginning-of-Year MAP Assessments:
-
Tuesday: Reading & Language Arts
-
Thursday: Math
These assessments give us a baseline to understand where students are academically and help guide our instructional goals for the year.
Athletics & Fall Events
Our Pirate athletes are already off to a great start!
-
Volleyball picked up some strong wins this week in Ingleside.
-
Cross Country had an excellent showing in Portland on Thursday.
-
Football season kicks off soon—stay tuned for schedules!
And there’s more to come:
-
Pep Rallies will be starting soon.
-
Fall Festival details will be shared in the coming weeks.
We’re excited to invite parents up to campus this fall to share in the middle school experience with our students.

MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT NURSE!
Car Rider Drop Off and Pick Up
Car Rider Safety Reminder
For the safety of all students, we ask that all car riders be dropped off and picked up in our back car rider lane. We do not have staff stationed near JJ’s for supervision, but we do have staff in the back to ensure a safe and efficient process.
Please remember:
-
Our school day ends at 4:15 PM.
-
The car rider gate opens at 3:55 PM.
-
Most students are picked up and on their way by 4:25 PM.
This process is quick, efficient, and—most importantly—safe. Thank you for partnering with us to make sure every student gets home safely.

Lunch Deliveries
As the year has started, we’ve noticed many families dropping off food for students. While we absolutely love having parents and guardians join us for lunch, we kindly ask that food not be dropped off just for delivery.
When food is dropped off, it can be difficult for us to get it to the student quickly, and this often cuts into their lunch time. To help us keep everything running smoothly, we encourage you to:
-
Bring a lunch and stay to enjoy it with your student.
-
Or, have your student bring their lunch with them in the morning.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping us ensure that every Pirate has the time they need to enjoy their meal.

CHARACTER STRONG!
We are celebrating the character trait Respect. This audio highlights ways parents and middle schoolers can build mutual respect, with parents modeling empathy, honesty, and listening, and children showing responsibility, openness, and good manners. It emphasizes that healthy relationships grow from valuing each other’s perspectives and handling disagreements calmly.
