Traffic Safety Reminders 🚘 Traffic Safety Reminders 🚘

  • We prefer everyone to go through the pick-up line and avoid parking in the lot if possible. It is usually fastest for everyone if everyone does that. Additionally, we really try to minimize or eliminate students needing to use the crosswalk to get to that parking lot as it also slows down the exit traffic. Lastly, it is more of a safety concern for students who are using the crosswalk just with the amount of cars that are on campus at that time. While most drivers do a great job following expectations on campus, there is still an increased risk of having students cross there. One thing that we have asked if parents have to park in the parking lot is that they park, cross through the crosswalk to meet their student(s), and then cross with their student(s) back to their vehicle.

  • If you are dropping your student(s) off by car in the morning, please pull all the way around to the flags before stopping to let your students out. Having one drop off point in the loop is safer and makes the traffic flow more efficient for everyone.

  • If picking up by car after school, make sure you pull into the loop and have your student(s) walk around on the sidewalk to get into your vehicle. Once they’re in your car, you can then pull into the left lane, drive through the rest of the loop, and exit onto Taft street.

  • When cars are “in line” please be attentive and continuously pull forward as you are able to so that everyone is able to pick up their student in a timely fashion.

  • We also prefer that cars not pick up after school right on the corner of Taft Street and the entrance to the parking lot, as this slows the flow of traffic as well. Students can enter their parent’s vehicle around the horseshoe from the flag poles to the west end of the tennis courts.
  • Finally, students should not be entering vehicles from the left lane of traffic. The right lane is for entering and exiting vehicles, while the left lane should keep moving after students have entered or exited vehicles.

8th Grade Promotion is set for Thursday, June 5th at 1:00 PM in the JHS Auditorium. This is a little different than previous years in which promotion has happened in the morning of the last day of the school year. We made the switch this year so that the promotion ceremony can return to the auditorium. We will continue to provide more specific information in the coming weeks regarding all end of the school year activities, but wanted to share this important date so that parents and families can plan for promotion.

The Student Council Spring Dance is happening soon! As usual, the Spring Dance is open to all (and only) JMS students. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, April 7th during lunches, and can also be purchased at the door.

  • Tickets - $5
  • Dress Up Days during the week leading up to the dance
  • Concessions, DJ & More
